Sincere and deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of the late Michael Sammon who passed to his eternal reward last week following a illness. The late Michael was son of the late Michael and Kate Sammon of Graffogue and he was laid to rest in Granardkille cemetery following Mass on Wednesday morning. May he rest in peace.

School reopens

This week sees all the schools reopen in the area so we wish all the students, teachers and staff the very best of luck as they embark on another year of good work.


The annual Creegan Mass will be celebrated by Mons. Michael Doyle in Cloone Church on this Friday night at 8-30pm and all members of the extended Creegan family are invited to attend.


The annual Diocesan pilgrimage to Knock led by Bishop Colm will be held on Sunday Sept. 1st with ceremonies starting at 2-30 pm. Bus leaves Gowna at 9-45 am Mullinalaghta 10-00 am and Granard at 10-15 am. Tickets available from Fr. Simon at 16 euro.


A six week course for people who are challenged by arthritis will start on September 3rd next in Lus na Greine at 7pm and for booking please call 0871404200 or 086 8160080.


An inaugural meeting to set up a Foroige club in Granard will be held in Lus na Greine on Wednesday September 25th at 7-30 pm and all parents, volunteers and young people are invited to attend.


Ballymore club will hold their monthly draw in McElvaney’s this weekend and all patrons are wished the best of luck. Some lucky person will be one thousand euro better off.


All roads will lead to Ballinalee on Friday night next when a barn dance will be held at the Marquee behind Rawle’s pub in aid of the Motor Neuron Association. A host of artists will be on stage and this promises to be a great night out so come along and enjoy the music and dancing and support a very worthy cause. Tickets are on sale at five euro each and a draw for a flat screen television will be held on the night.
