COMMUNITY GAMES: Our Annual Sports Day will take place in Emmet Park, Clonee, on Saturday, the 13th. April, 2013 at 11 a.m. sharp. All children living within the Killoe Community Games boundary are welcome to participate. We have all the usual events for both boys and girls to take part in:- Toddlers Race for U4, 60m for U6 and U8, 80m for U8, 60m hurdles for U10, 100m for U10, U12, U14, and U16; 200m for U10, 600m for U12, 800m for U14, 80m hurdles for U14, 1500m for U16, Ball Throw U12, Long Puck U12 Boys and U14 Girls, Shot Putt for U14, Discus for U16, and Javelin for U14. We have a number of novelty events for all age groups and we haven’t forgotten the mothers and fathers either - we have races for them also. All the events are free of charge and there will be a shop on site. Hopefully, the weather will be good and the sun shines on the day. Help from any parents would be most appreciated on the day. In preparation for our Sports Day, our next meeting will take place in St. Teresa’s N.S. on Tuesday, the 9th. April at 9 p.m. - all members requested to attend.
FINE GAEL: The Annual General Meeting of Killoe Branch of Fine Gael shall take place in The Old Forge Pub, on Monday 8 April at 9.30pm. All members please attend new members welcome .James Bannon T.D will be in attendance along with local Councillors.
BINGO: Ennybegs Community Centre Killoe Bingo session every Friday night commencing at 9pm (Summer period). An extra half hour now to gel the hair. Many great prizes up for grabs each week.
DATE FOR YOUR DIARY: Longford Federation of the ICA are hosting an information evening in the 98 Hall Ballinamuck Co Longford on Thursday 25 April 2013 at 7.30pm.Laura Shaw from Longford Garden Centre will be in attendance presenting topics on lawn care, colour with perennials and maintaining your rose garden. This will be followed by Questions/Answers from Laura. On the second part of our evening our environmental officer Gary Brady from Longford County Council will render a lecture on how to use “leftovers” and “food wastage” as part of the “food wastage “ programme. Raffle will be held on the night with tea and refreshments served afterwards . Admission 5 euro and everyone is welcome.
RURAL TRANBSPORT: A recent re-structuring proposal endorsed by Minister of Commuter and Public Transport outlines many changes including a regional transport unit with Co Longford Rural Transport entwined with Eastern/Midlands Regional Unit with counties Westmeath Laois Offaly. Longford Community Resources are holding a public meeting in Newtowncashel Parish Hall on Thursday 4 April 2013 at 7pm where you the public are invited to attend to discuss any concerns on how the overall change may affect the population in rural areas. WHITE LINES: Well now I can find my way home ! With thanks to Longford County Council , Engineer Joe Clarke and team we now have re-instated white lines, yellow lines and most important around the church area. All we need now is a few cats eyes. LITTER: Volunteers have been kept extremely weighed down with bags of litter along our roads in the parish and we would request everyone to please pick up any litter that may be in or around your areas.

MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS: The Longford branch of Multiple Sclerosis are holding their annual Church gate collection in the parish on Saturday 6 /Sunday 7 April 2013. Your support is greatly appreciated.
CULLYFAD: Progressive 25 finishes up on Monday night . Results next week. We had a good season and thanks to all who took part and hope to see you all in the new season. We have two one act plays in Cullyfad on Sunday night 7th April by the Killglass Drama Group called the “Romantic Lover” and a “Night to Remember”. They run for about one hour each so it should be good. Proceeds in aid of Cullyfad Village Enhancement. Doors open 8, starting 8.30pm. We would like to wish you all a very happy Easter and hope the weather gets a bit warmer.
