defibrillator meeting: A note to hand from Edel McGarry secretary of the defibrillator committee to let you know that there will be urgent defibrillator meeting on Tuesday February 5th at 8.30pm in Bornacoola community centre. Everybody please attend, especially trainees.

Community Development agm: The AGM of the Bornacoola Community Development will take place in Bornacoola Community Centre on tomorrow night Thursday 8 30pm. All members are requested to attend and new members are welcome.

Scór na nOg: Bornacoola’s Question time team of Robert O’Beirne, Brian Duffy and Sean Muldowney were defeated by 2 points in the Connaught final of Scór na nOg which was held on Saturday last in Castlebar. Sincere thanks to Aiden Dockrey for his help. Congratulations to Grace O’Reilly from Ballinamore who was winner in the recitation which was written by her aunt Angela Fitzpatrick, best of luck to you in the All Ireland Final which takes place in Derry February 23rd finally Scór Sinsear kicks off March 23rd so anyone interested in participating in any of the disciplines should contact Bornacoola gaa’s Oifigeach Cultúra Martina Hackett at 087 7963512.

St Vincent de Paul: Mohill St Vincent de Paul would like to thank everyone who contributed to their Annual Collection in December. €4,094 was raised at church gate collections in Mohill, Gortletteragh, Cornageeha, Fearglass, Bornacoola, Cloonturk, Gorvagh, Eslin, Annaduff. This very generous response along with donations of over €2,000 from individuals and groups, enabled us to assist over 100 families this Christmas in Mohill and the surrounding parishes. We are also very grateful for the assistance of the many volunteer collectors who made this collection possible. Mohill SVP can be contacted on 087 - 6776391.

Trident Swim Club: Trident Swim Club is Carrick on Shannon’s newest and most successful swim club with members ranging from beginners to national squad. We train at Aura in Carrick three times a week and welcome new members up to 18 years of age. Our membership prices are very reasonable and we offer a free trial session to all with no obligation. Sympathy: We would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of the late Teresa McGarry nee Faughnan, Killamaun, Mohill who died on Thursday last. Teresa was laid to rest in Mohill cemetery on Saturday last. May she rest in peace.

Leitrim supporters club: A note to hand to let you know that Leitrim Supporters Club are organising a bus (subject to numbers travelling) to next Sunday’s Leitrim v Limerick league game in Limerick City. Bornacoola Youth Club: This week at The Hive all clubs went to see the panto Little Bo Peep at the Backstage in Longford and a great night was had by all. We still have no definite dates for the next music club nights but will announce once they are finalised. This week’s clubs are teen club Thursday evening and senior club and teen club Friday night.

Annaduff gaa: Annaduff gaa club held their agm on Sunday week last and the following Officers were elected - Presidents: Paddy Fox, Teasie McLoughlin, Fr. John Wall; Chairperson: Micheal O’Dowd; Vice/Chairman: Donal Fox; Secretary: Barry Guckian; Ass/Secretary: Karl Foley; Treasurer: Declan Shanley; Ass/Treasurer.: John Thornton; P.R.O: Pauric Lynch; Coaching Officer: Joe Cox; Children’s Officer: Niall Lyons. Executive is the same as last year except Karl Foley replaces Maurice Shanley. The meeting saw the retirement of two outstanding Officers Kevin Ludlow as Secretary and John Thornton as Treasurer.

Plan Ireland church gate collection: The Plan Ireland church gate collection which was held at Cloonturk and Bornacoola churches on January 19th-20th amounted to €476. Thanks to all who contributed.

gaa club draw: The first Bornacoola gaa club draw for 2013 took place on Saturday night last in the Copper Still, Dromod with entertainment on the night by Feargal McGill. Thanks to Derek for his hospitality and to all who sold and bought tickets. Winners were; €100 Michael Stenson €20 each; Bernie O’Beirne, Trish Hackett, Margaret McGoldrick (BOI Mohill); Padraig Jones, Josephine McGushin and a bottle of wine sponsored by the Copper till was won by Kelly Howard.

The Gathering: As you know this is the year of the gathering where communities will come together to organise various events and invite some of our immigrants back home. So in the weeks ahead we will bring you more information of what will be happening in our area and maybe some of you might be able to help out with the organisation of it.
