 Results of draw held on Monday 21st January in Slowey’s. Numbers drawn were 6, 12, 15 and 18. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners of €20 were Padraig Moran, Bridget Boylan, Dan & Aor, Donald Keogh and Jim Murtagh. This week’s draw took place in Casey’s Carrickboy and results will be published next week.

First Friday: This Friday February 1st is the First Friday of the month and Holy Communion calls to the sick and housebound will be on Thursday and Friday mornings at the usual times.

Baby Girls: Congratulations to Michelle Ross and her husband Val Bohan on the birth of twin baby girls in California on Sunday morning last. The babies will be named Katie and Penny and we hope mother and babies are doing well. Congratulations also to the grandparents who are thrilled with the news.

Recent Deaths: The death occurred last week of Maisie Mulligan at the General Hospital Mullingar after a short illness. Maisie was born and lived in Legan Rock until going to work in Walsh Jewellers in Mullingar in 1950’s. Her remains were interred in Abbeyshrule Cemetery following requiem Mass on Thursday last.

Sympathy: We extend sympathy to the family and friends of Billy Halligan, Ardagh who passed away after a long illness at Thomond Lodge Ballymahon last week. Billy was very likeable and highly regarded. He will be sadly missed by his family and relatives some of whom live in this parish. May he rest in peace.

Walking Club: This Saturday February 2nd the Walking Group will meet in Legan at 10.00am as usual. Numbers have been growing weekly and it’s great to see new people joining. We hope they are enjoying the exercise and the scenery and continue to come. New members are always welcome.

Inny Anglers: Results of last week’s Inny Anglers Lotto draw. Numbers drawn were 5, 11, 15 and 21. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners were Ollie Boylan and the Gunshinan family. This week’s draw takes place in Mitchell’s for a jackpot of €1,500. Club members on Lotto duty for month of February are TJ Keenan and Gerry Gilchrist. The Club extends sympathy to Lily Boyce, Clygeen on the death of her brother last week.

Foróige: Ballycloghan Foróige leaders and committee welcome back all its members for 2013.The Club was set up in September 2012 and to date has been an outstanding success. We have already been involved in a number of events locally, from Scór to the Rose of Foróige, we are planning our Summer trip and all suggestions welcome. We enjoyed a night out at the Cinema in Athlone over Christmas. We currently have 16 members and we meet every Friday night in Ballycloghan Hall at 8.15pm. Community Games: Well done to all the children who represented Legan/Ballycloghan Community Games at the County Art finals in Longford. Congratulations to Hugh Flynn, Legan who won Bronze Medal under 16, Amy Cox, Ballycloghan who won Silver Medal under 12 and Jessica Cahill O’Leary , Ballycloghan who won Bronze Medal under 10. From Friday 8th February training for forthcoming competitions will commence in the Aurora Hall. It is hoped to have Badminton, Table Tennis, Draughts and Talent practice. Any children from the area interested in Basket Ball under 11 and 13 should contact Carmel Nulty on 087 6464212. Community Games Talent Competition takes place on Monday 18th March at 11.00am in The Hill, Newtowncashel for under 14year old. Competitions are for Group Disco Dance, Solo Disco Dance, Recitation and Solo Singing. Anyone interested should contact 087 6464212.

Congratulations: Congratulations to Margo Brady (Smith) and her husband on the birth of their second child a baby girl. Margo is Principal teacher in Lenamore National School. We hope mother and baby are doing well.
