CEMETERY SATURDAY: Blessing of graves in the local cemetery will take place following 7pm Mass on Saturday, July 30. Please inform relations and friends away from home.

Rath Mhuire: A summer school is currently being spearheaded by Jackie Callaghan at the Rath Mhuire Resource Centre, Granard. Jackie will be joined by fellow students of University of Limerick to tutor in a wide range of instruments. Classes for children from 6-16 years will take place from Monday, July 25 to Friday, July 29 from 10am to 3pm each day. For further details contact Jackie on (087) 6834145.

FUNDRAISER: A traditional night of Irish music by the Callaghan family in aid of Mullinalaghta Community Centre will take place in Keogh’s bar and lounge on Saturday, July 30 next. A raffle will also be held on the night. Support or donations for same would be very much appreciated.

RURAL TRANSPORT: In conjunction with Longford Community Resources Ltd a new weekly ‘Door to Door’ service from Granard to Cavan commenced on Tuesday, July 19 as a Demand Responsive Service. The areas covered are Granard, Creevy, Dundevan, Mullahoran, Killydoon, Corduff via Ballinagh to Cavan. Bus departs from Granard at 10am and arrives in Cavan at 11am returning at 1.15pm. Students and all age groups are welcome to avail of this new service and Travel Pass holders are permitted to travel for fee. Cost includes, single €3; Return €5. AREA ENHANCEMENT: An information evening will be held in the community centre on Tuesday 26, July at 8.30pm for village area and parish enhancement. Longford Community Resources Ltd has secured funding to help our community with this project. It is important that a representative from every organisation in the parish attends. Anybody with an idea or view are invited to come along. Unless a plan is drawn up, we will not receive the money.
