SYMPATHY EXPRESSED: We extend our deepest sympathy to Mr. Michael Dolan,Carrick Road on the death of his wife Margaret. The Funeral took place on Wednesday of last week to the local Cemetery following Requiem mass in St.Patrick’s Church. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

CALENDAR 2012: The An Tóstal Festival Committee are currently in the process of collecting old photos taken during the Festival over the past 60 years. It is hoped that a calendar can be produced for Christmas to provide funds to make ‘An Tóstal 60’ the biggest and best yet. If you have any photos that you would like to include please send them to: An Tóstal Calendar, 13 Mountain View, Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim, or alternatively send the photos electronically to:antostalfestival@gmail.com. Please include a return address and as much information as possible, particularly an estimate of the date the picture was taken and the names of the people in the picture.

RETIREMENT FUNCTION : To mark the retirement of Oliver Carey a social gathering will be held in Monica’s Drumshanbo on Friday 29th July. Oliver has retired from An Gárda Siochána. There will be a Traditional Irish Music session and light refreshments will be served on the night.

RIVERSIDE : The idea of a new Amenity Area or Park along the river through the middle of Drumshanbo has been put forward by the community group Pride in Drumshanbo. A Feasibility Study is underway to determine if the site is suitable. As part of that, we need to hear from you!There will be a public meeting about the project on Wednesday the 27th of July in the Ramada Hotel at 8pm to discuss these ideas and the project in general. FESTIVAL OPENS: Carrigallen Festival runs from Friday 29th July to Sunday 1st August.The official opening takes place sat 8pm on Friday 29th.Street entertainment every day.Festival Marquee on main St.On July 27th and 28th,the Cornmill Theatre presents ‘Victors Dung’ a comedy play by Seamus O’Rourke.The Dublin City Ramblers will perform on Saturday July 30th, Frankie Gavin & De Dannan perform on Sunday 1st August while the Beezneez Theatre Company present ‘Don’t Dress For Dinner’ a Comedy play.
