BOXING CLUB: Presents Skool Box Kids Gloves Summer Camp, non-contact recreational boxing programme suitable for boys/girls aged 5 – 14 year. Have fun and learn to box, win an award. The Late Jim O’Connell: The death has taken place in Chicago of the late Jim O’ Connell, native of Killadoo, Ballinamore. He and his friend the late Noel Dolan served their time as fitters with CIE in Inchicore in the late 1940s. After that they both emigrated to the USA, where they remained firm friends until Noel’s death 6 months ago. Jim was a successful builder in Chicago. He never forgot his Ballinamore roots. His legacy is the Streets of Houses that he built in Chicago named Ceannabo, Lahard, Willowfield, Aughaleague, killadoo etc. He was married to Kathleen nee Gaffney of Aughaleague, Ballinamore for over 50 years. Jim and his family came on yearly holidays to their mobile home in Aughaleague. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, son Kevin, daughters, Fiona, Aileen and Marita, brother Pat and sister Chris, nephews and nieces, sisters in law, Celine and Dolores. Jim was predeceased by brothers Michael, Peter and Kevin, and sisters Molly and Kathleen. May he Rest in Peace.

Hospice Fundraiser: You have an opportunity on Saturday Aug. 6th to show your generosity to this great cause and at the same time enjoy a night of set dancing, céili and old time to the music of the renowned Annaly céili band in the community centre Aughnasheelin. Dancing 10-1. Supper served. Admission €10.00. Everyone welcome. Entire proceeds to the North West Hospice.

Show: A meeting of Ballinamore Show Committee will be held on Wednesday 20th July 2011 in the Community Centre at 9pm. This year’s show will take place in Creamers Field, Golf Links Road on Tuesday 9th August. The show office at High Street will be open from Thursday 21st July. Schedules are now available from Show Office.

Peace Walkers: As you have seen over the past few weeks we are expecting our friends from Belfast shortly as they walk in pilgrimage from Belfast to Knock over 5 days. They will be coming into Ballinamore on next Thursday 21st July and you are invited to come and join in the celebration of their Mass in the church on that evening, an occasion that those of who have been there before will know is a wonderful experience of the joy and celebration of the Eucharist. It is hoped that as many as possible will be there to show the support of the community as they journey on to Knock. If you can give any or even one of the walkers a bed for the night it would be much appreciated. After walking all the way from Clones they will be in need of a good night’s rest. Collection: The North West Simon Community will take up a Church gate collection at Ballinamore Church next weekend 23rd & 24th July. Your support would be greatly appreciated. All money raised from church gate collections goes to The Tenancy Sustainment Programme which helps many families in the region. The North West Simon Community, a not-for-profit registered charity working with those at risk of homelessness across counties Leitrim, Sligo and Donegal. They are one of the newest charities working in the northwest, having started their programmes in May 2008
