NIFTY FIFTY

On Sunday last 8th May 2011 Legan hosted what is known as the “Legan Nifty Fifty”, where one could watch a fantastic spectacle of Honda 50’s and other motorcycles of every description complete a circle of Ballynacargy, Skea Hill, Ballymahon, Kenagh, Longford and Ardagh from12pm. This circle started and ended in Legan and the mere sight of the array of such powerful and truly remarkable looking motorcycles was something that will always be remembered by the huge crowd in attendance. On the motorcyclists’ returning to Legan, Mitchell’s Pub hosted a grand reception in celebration of the great success of “Legan’s Nifty Fifty”, which the whole community is extremely proud of. This event was organised to raise funds for Cancer Research. Congratulations to all involved.

BIODANZA CLASS

Biodanza classes begin this Thursday 12th May in the Longford Arms Hotel at 7pm. Biodanza is a form of dance specifically proven to improve your sense of well-being. There are no steps to learn or partner needed and is for all ages male and female.

LOTTO

Last week’s GAA Lotto was held in Mitchell’s, Legan for a jackpot of 1350euros. The numbers drawn were 6, 8, 23 and 27. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winner of 100 euro was STV. This week’s draw was held in Connaughton’s Rathowen for a jackpot of 1400 euros, results of which will be published in this week’s edition.

ADORATION

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place from 10.00am to 7.00pm in St Mary’s Church, Legan on this Wednesday 11th May 2011. Please come and join this Adoration at any time on Wednesday.

DEATHS

We extend our deepest sympathy to Eileen Nulty, Ardandra and family on the death of her brother Christy Keane in Navan last week. Christy was removed to St Mary’s Church, Navan on Friday last 6th May 2011 and his Funeral Mass took place on Saturday 7th May 2011. May he Rest in Peace.

We also extend our sympathy to the family and friends of Carmel Herron nee Dowler , Athlone and formerly of Killeen. May she Rest in Peace.

PREDICTION CARDS

Carrick Sarsfields Minor GAA Club has Prediction Cards in circulation on the result of the upcoming Leinster Senior Football Championship Game between Longford and Laois on Sunday 22nd May 2011. You can predict the result at a cost of 2euro on cards in the possession of all Carrick Sarsfields players and on cards in all local shops. This is the main fundraiser for our joint club and your support would be greatly appreciated.
