UGANDA - Local girl Emer Mulligan, travels to Uganda in July to work as a volunteer for A -Z Children’s Charity. She will be working on school and community health outreach projects that provide support and education for vulnerable children. Emer will also help build a house for an impoverished Ugandan family.
Covering the cost of the trip herself, Emer has a target to raise an additional €2000 for A – Z Children’s Charity. 100% of this money goes directly to the charity, providing healthcare and education for deprived, AIDS affected children in Uganda. To help defray some of the expenses involved a race night will be held in Keogh’s on this Saturday 14th May. Sponsorship cards are in local shops where all wishing to support this worthy cause have the opportunity to purchase a horse or jockey. All with sponsorship cards are requested to return same as soon as possible. We appeal to all to make a special effort to attend on Saturday night. Nights like these in the past have been very entertaining and enjoyable.

Congratulations to Stephanie Donohoe, Springtown on being the overall winner in Cavan’s Got Talent 2011. The competition, which has been running for eleven weeks, saw Stephanie battle it out against strong opposition. She came out on top each week and claimed the top prize at the final in the Imperial Hotel, Cavan on Friday 29th April. Daughter of Tom Joe and Maureen, Stephanie expresses her sincere gratitude to her family and friends who have been so supportive of her over the past number of weeks. She is very appreciative of all who made the journey to Cavan each week and voted for her. On behalf of her well wishers we wish this talented lady well for the future.
