THE LATE YVONNE POYNTZ

THE LATE YVONNE POYNTZ

On Thursday morning last the entire area was shocked and saddened when the news became known that Yvonne Poyntz of Aughaboy Coolarty had passed to her eternal reward following a very short illness at the Mater Hospital Dublin.Yvonne was beloved wife of Henry and dear mother of Gordan Richard and Graeme and was daughter of the late Dick and Dolly Ruske.Yvonne was a lady of many great talents and she could turn her hand to anything be it farming, horticulture, baking and dressmaking to name but a few and all of these talents were used for the benefit of her family and many friends.Yvonne had a deep faith and she loved her parish church of St.Patrick’s in Granard and participated in every service held there and took great pride in making sure that the church was clean and well decorated for every occasion. The late Yvonne was a very popular lady who always had a great smile and warm greeting for everyone she met as she made her way a round Granard and the surrounding area on her daily post run. While she always seemed to be in a hurry and yet if there was someone in need of a friendly chat Yvonne was there and if a cup of tea or a bowl of soup was available she would accept it with much appreciation. To say that Yvonne was a good person would be an under statement she was a great person and she will be sadly missed in Granard for along time as she was much loved by all.Huge crowds passed through the family home in Aughaboy on Friday and again at her removal on Saturday evening and St.Patrick’s church and grounds were packed to overflowing on Sunday afternoon where her funeral service was held.We offer our sincere sympathy to Henry Gordan Graeme and Richard and to her sister Sylvia and brother John and to her many friends.May Yvonne rest in peace.
