DROMOD FESTIVAL LAUNCH
The Festival Committee would like to say a big thank you to all who came to the Brandywell on Saturday night. An excellent night was had by all and a brilliant start was made to the festival fund raising through a well supported prize raffle.
After much technical analysis and debate Connor Grey was crowned man of the match. Feargal McGill didn’t fail to pull in the crowd and the supporting acts went down a storm - namely Niall and Seamus. A special thank you to Julia Richter who has once again provided us with an excellent festival poster. We look forward to seeing you all on the 1st May.
We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Michael Hackett, 6 Knocklongford, Mohill Co. Leitrim & formerly Killamaun, Mohill who died at Sligo General Hospital last week. Michael was laid to rest in St Mary’s cemetery, Mohill on
Thursday last. May he Rest in Peace.
We would like to extend our greetings to some people from the locality who celebrated their birthdays recently; we will start with the most senior; Neill Duignan mother of Seamus (Cloonturk) and Nevie (Ballinmuck). Neill celebrated her 90th birthday last weekend and is still in the finest of fettle also to twins Gerry and Alphonsius Mulligan, Currycramp who had their 89th birthday in recent weeks, then we congratulate Michael Stenson, Cloonturk who turned the big 40 recently and was surprised by family and friends with a party in the Brandywell last Friday night, next we say happy birthday to David Conroy, Dromod who notched up another year on Monday last and finally to the most junior of our celebrants, to Bornacoola star footballer Mervin Howard who turned 21 on Sunday last. We wish you all many more years of health and happiness.
We would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends of Mary Kearns nee Ahern, Druminarlly, Rooskey who died at her home on Friday last. Mary was laid to rest in Kilglass cemetery on Sunday last. May she Rest in Peace.
CREDIT UNION QUIZ
The credit union would like to thank all children who participated in the recent school quiz held in the Shannon Key West Hotel, Rooskey on Feb 6th last. Annaduff N.S, Scoil Mhuire Bornacoola, Ballyfeeney N.S, Clonfour N.S and Rooskey N.S took part.
Congratulations to the two winning teams who are going forward to chapter level on Sunday next, March 6th in the Bush Hotel at 3pm. Scoil Mhuire, Bornacoola will represent us in the Senior Category, their team members are: Robert O’Beirne, Jack Keville, Luke Jones and Dylan Roan. Annaduff N.S will represent us the Junior Category, their team members are: Katie Moream, Hannah Mc Glynn, Aine Mc Hugh and Jack Collum. Best of luck to both teams.

A note in from Michael Stenson, Cloonturk to thank all who sent him good wishes, cards etc on the occasion of his recent birthday party. A special word of thanks to the family for organising the event, to the Brandywell for their hospitality, to Sean Hussy for the entertainment and to his old college friends who travelled from London and Limerick for the occasion.
March 31st is a date to keep free in your diary when the newly formed Lough Rynn Players will host the hilarious comedy “Any on can rob a bank”. The venue is Clarke’s Hotel, Mohill and I am assured it will be a night not to be missed. We will keep you informed.
Kilglass Gales will host a monster Auction in The Kon Tiki Rooskey on Sunday March 6th. Items include many household goods, hay, silage, turf , firewood, Brick-a-brack etc. great bargains to be had on the day don’t miss it. Starting time 3pm.
Last Saturday night the first round of Scor Sinsear took place in St Mary’s hall Carrick on Shannon. Bornacoola qualified in recitation, question time and Sean nos Dancing. The Leitrim final is in Ballinamore on Saturday next. Please support.
There will take place a night of talent in the Brandywell Dromod on Saturday March 5th there are great prizes €300 for winner €150 for runner up and €100 for third. MC for the night will be the ever popular Tom Moran. With proceeds going to the Irish Cancer Society it is a night not to be missed. For more information contact Marie at the Brandywell on 9638278.
Every year at this time the local community along with members of the Rynn and Shannon Angling Club do a major clean up of the R202 (Dromod to Mohill) road and other local roads. This year the clean up will take place on Saturday March 6th Meet at Bornacoola gaa grounds at 10am anyone that has an hour or two to spare please come along and bring gloves and high visibility gear with you.
