Congratulations again to Martin Skelly who was formally declared Chairman of the GAA Leinster Council last Saturday, February 26th. This is a tremendous achievement and Martin’s energy and hard work over the years has been duly rewarded.The local GAA Club has also to be commended on hosting the homecoming celebration for Martin, an event that was enjoyable and professional in its execution.

Thanks also to The Parents’ Association of St Mary’s National School for their help, and of course the guard of honour which the local children organised was a joy to see!After the formal reception in “The Hill” the celebrations continued well into the night in Fallon’s Public House.Again, well done Martin; the Parish of Cashel are truly delighted on your fine achievement.

GAA LOTTO

There was no Jackpot winner in this week’s Club lotto. Numbers drawn 2, 18, 27, 10. Thirty euro winner Noreen Fay, Abbeylara and twenty euro each to Gerard Dennigan, Thomas Delaney and Chris Farrell, Clonmee. Jackpot next week is €3,400, draw takes place in Fallon’s and team on duty is Jim Frank Mulvihill, Brian Mulvihill and Richard Farrell. Your continued support is much appreciated.

“CANARIES”

Cashel Drama Group present “Canaries”, a comedy farce by Bernard Farrell, in “The Hill” on 4th, 5th and 6th March. Doors open at 8.00pm. Curtain at 8.30pm sharp. Admission is by ticket only, Adults €10.00, Primary Children €5.00. Tickets are available from Kevin Casey, telephone (086) 843 6651. The play contains adult humour which may not be suitable for children.

COMMUNITY GAMES

The Art and Modeling competitions will be held in the GAA clubhouse, Newtowncashel on Sun the 6th March at 3pm. Please bring your own materials i.e. colours and modeling clay, paper will be provided. The cost per child is 2 euro. Registration for Talent U14 and Futsul(boys and girls) U13 competitions are at the same venue on the same day at 6pm. Please note that coordinators are needed for those competitions otherwise they will not proceed.

Tag Rugby ( Mixed) training U11 and U14 will be held at the School Pitch on Sat 5th March 12-1pm.

The churchgate collection will be on the 19th and 20th March.

The next Community Games Committee meeting will be on Thur 24th March in the GAA clubhouse at

9pm.

BADMINTON

Newtowncashel Badminton Club has resumed activities on Thursday nights in “The Hill” at 9.00pm. Members are invited to retrieve their racquets and take to the court! New players are welcome.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES

The Annual Pilgrimage takes place from May 27th to June 1st and the organisers request the names of sick people who would like to join the pilgrimage. Names should be submitted as soon as possible please to Elizabeth Clyne (043) 332 5156.

NEWTOWNCASHEL TODDLER GROUP

The Toddler Group meets in “The Hill” every Tuesday morning from 9.30am to 11.30am. All welcome!

FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT

Fairtrade Fortnight, with the theme “Show off your Label”, runs form Monday, February 26th to Sunday March 13th. The fortnight is an invitation to highlight Fairtrade labels on products, particularly cotton clothing. www.fairtrade.ie/fortnight.
