Congratulations to Ciara Brady, Aughakilmore who has been awarded two of the highest hair dressing accolades in Ireland and UK when she won the silver award in the Young Talent Category at the Wella Professional’s Trend Vision Awards which was held in The Roundhouse in London’s Camden on Monday night October 5th last. The Wella Professional’s Trend Vision Awards are the World’s most prestigious competitions and are held annually and Ciara had to compete against hundreds of stylists from all over Ireland to secure her place in the finals and she was joined by her parents Finbar and
Deirdre along with family and friends from Yourells Hair Salon in Galway where she works and there was great excitement when she was announced as the silver winner. Ciara also won the People’s Choice Award which was voted for on line and with these top accolades under her belt Ciara will be one of the country’s most sought after and in Demand Professional Hair stylists. We join with Ciara’s parents Finbar and Deirdre and her brother Barry and her extended family in congratulating her and we wish her well in the future and have no doubt that the name Ciara Brady will be big in the world of hair dressing.
On Friday night, November 13th next, Bunlahy Area Action Group will host a Table Quiz in Creegan’s and they look forward to your generous support. This group are doing an excellent job in the village and in the surrounding area and are to be congratulated on their efforts in keeping the place so tidy and nice. They also intend running their annual Operation Transformation immediately after Christmas so all you slimmers take note.
Congratulations to Pauline and Damien Drake, Tubber on the birth of their second child - a girl on Monday last October 5th. The new arrival is to be named Riona and she is a welcome sister for Jennifer and grand daughter for Seamus and Una Drake, Rathbracken.
Tickets for the Ballymore monthly draw are now on sale and sellers will be out and about in the coming weeks and the club will greatly appreciate your support. First prize is one thousand euro with two one hundred euro prizes and a special prize of one hundred euro for fully paid up members so make sure your name is in the drum.
It’s with much sadness we record the death of Michael McGovern of Cartronmarkey, Granard which occurred at St. Joseph’s hospital Longford on Thursday last. Mickey was a quiet decent man who enjoyed life and loved having a chat and a few drinks with his neighbours and friends. Predeceased by his brother Tommy of McGovern Nurseries, Ballinroey. Mickey will be sadly missed by his sister Katie Corcoran, Tubber and his nephews and nieces to who we offer our sincere and deepest sympathy. Mickey was laid to rest in Purth cemetery following Mass in St.Joseph’s church Purth on Saturday last. May he rest in peace.
St. Patrick’s church of Ireland will host a Supper Dance in the Park House Hotel in Edgeworthstown on Friday November 6th and tickets are now on sale from committee members.Music on the night is by Vincie Carr and Anne McGrory from Donegal and all proceeds go towards the church’s restoration fund. Your support will be much appreciated.
