St. Vincents’ GAA
Hard luck to our U-14s who lost out to Kenagh in the Feile on Saturday. Thank you to Kenagh for a sporting game and well done to all involved with the team preparation. Our Minor team played out an exciting draw with Longford Slashers on Sunday morning. This was a fine performance by the amalgamation and great credit is due to all those involved with the team on the day.
Minor GAA Bingo
The 5th annual monster Bingo takes place in the 98 Memorial Hall, Ballinamuck on Sunday, March 22nd at 3pm. €2,500 in prizes plus a monster raffle and Easter eggs on the day. Your support for this club fundraiser would be greatly appreciated.

Sweet Spirit Gospel Choir
Arus Carolan Patient Comfort Fund, St Manchan’s Outreach Special Class and Goal the beneficiaries of the ‘Sweet Spirit Gospel Choir’ next performance—’Support, Lean on Me’. The show will take place in the Hunt Hall, Mohill on Sunday March 22nd at 8pm.
A second public meeting will take place on Wednesday, 18th of March in the 98 hall Ballinamuck at 8pm. The purpose of the meeting is to set up an annual remembrance of the battle of 1798. We hope to have as many people from the area involved and to make Ballinamuck a showcase for people who will be visiting Granard, Ballinalee and Ballinamuck as part of the new Rebel Longford trail .The event will be held in September each year and the trail is currently under development with new signage and website promotion in conjunction with longford Tourisim and longford county council. The aim is to increase visitor numbers to the area .Everyone in the area is invited and we hope to have a great turnout at the meeting .
Ballinamuck Tidy Towns
Our first big clean up on Saturday, 21st March, gathering at the ‘98 Hall at 10am. We appreciate as much help as possible to get us off to a good start.
County Longford Ladies Golf Club are getting ready a package of 6 Beginner Lessons starting in early April - if you are interested or know of anyone interested - contact 086 8141023. Membership is not necessary for these lessons. Tidy Towns
Drumlish has over the past 10 years (2005 - 2014) increased its marks from a baseline of 178 in 2005 to 287 marks in 2014, it would be fantastic to see to see our village reach the magic 300 in this coming season’s National Tidy Town’s Competition. Every effort will be made to achieve this and we look forward to the support of the wider community in helping us achieve this end. That will mean a lot of preparation: power-washing, painting, tree planting, landscaping to create the show -village finish.
Due to circumstances outside our control, we have taken collectively the decision to not run the Mock Wedding 2 on 10th April - instead we are having it later in the year on Friday, 27th November next.
Drumlish Community Activities
AED Training (Defibrillator) takes place on Thursday next, March 19th at 7.30pm in Drumlish Community Centre. We looking forward to a good response from the community.
Art Class: Art Class continues on Wednesday at 10am in the centre with Sr. Brigid.
Social dancing class: Dancing class continues on Wednesday at 8.30pm in the Community Centre under the guidance of Ned Heslin, anyone interested in learning waltz dive etc come along and join in the fun. Recently the group travelled to Kilbrackin Arms in Carrigallen, great night of social dancing was had by all who attended. Social dancing evening will take place on April 17th, a great evening in store. Come along and bring a friend.

Congratulations to the children of St. Mary’s N.S., and to their parents and teachers on the celebration of their First Confession on Monday.
While we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day as our national day, we also recognise other different nationalities who have come to make their home among us. To celebrate this diversity, we will have a multicultural celebration at our 11a.m. Mass in Drumlish on 22nd March, at which the different nationalities from our community will be actively involved. Followed by a cuppa in the Parochial House. Everyone is invited to attend and join in.
Foróige are trying to expand in Co. Longford and in particular in Drumlish. It looking for volunteers who would be suitable and interested in setting up a Foróige club in the Drumlish locality. We would like to thanks all the ladies and members from other ICA guilds for coming out to support our Ladies Night on Monday March 9th in the 98’ Hall, Ballinamuck. Thanks to Lorraine, Marta and Brenda for their valuable information and to all who gave spot prizes for our raffle. It was a great success. Olive Quinn, Federation Sports Officer has arranged another walk on Sunday March 22nd. We meet at the parish hall in Newtownforbes at 2.45pm, gates open at 3pm to let us into Castleforbes. Everyone has to go in together as gates will be locked after us, and everyone comes back out together for the same reason. Walk should take between one to one and half hours. So put on your walking shoes and join us if you are interested in taking part.
The draw took place in Newtownforbes on Wednesday, March 11th. Numbers drawn, 3, 17, 24, 29. No Jackpot winner. €20 winners: Margo Nolan, Moydow. Gaels Utd FC committee would like to thank everyone who attended the Strictly Come dancing fund raiser in Drumlish Community centre last Saturday night. Thanks to everyone who helped out in any way, especially our dancers. A great night was had by all.
Cairn Hill Challenge
With the date of May 3rd set for the 3rd Annual Cairn Hill Challenge it’s time to get training again. Brendan Doyle will be back in Drumlish this Friday March 20th at 7pm to hold similar sessions to those which proved so popular last year. Meeting place is Drumlish Community Centre. The training group is suitable for all levels from runners to joggers to walkers. All you need is comfortable clothes and footwear and the desire to improve your overall fitness.
