We are delighted to announce that we expect the first phase of the children’s playground to be put in place in the village in the coming months. The new playground will be located on a site at the front of Corry Park and a plan of the playground is on public display at this location. Funding has been secured from Longford County Council, however, there is a shortfall and the community have to raise €5,000 towards the playground. A Playground committee has been established to progress the project and a fundraising event “A Race Night” has been organised for Saturday night 18th April in Casey’s Lounge, Newtownforbes. Cards are currently in circulation for this event and your support would be greatly appreciated. If you want to help with the cards or if you would like to make a donation please contact any of the committee members Fergal O’Loughlin, Sinead Nolan, Claire Maher, Fiona McGrath, Jimmy Gacquin, Sinead Lynch or Ann Marie McKeon. The playground is a much needed family based facility for children. Whatever your role i.e. as a parent, aunt, uncle or grandparent, we earnestly request your support.
