Legan Drama Group are now in final preparation for this year’s production of “The Real McCoy” which will be staged in the Aurora Hall from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th March. This is a hilarious comedy and promises a night of laughter coupled with a deep and gripping story. Doors open at 8pm and curtain up at 8.30pm. Booking is recommended on 087 9475314.
This Saturday, March 21st the local Walking Group will move to Ballymahon where they will meet at Brannigan Harbour on the banks of the Canal at 10.00am.
Longford Ploughing Committee have selected Legan for the 81st Annual Ploughing Championship and Field Day on Sunday, 12th April. The host farmers are Pauric Dalton and Frank Lyons and the venue is Foxhall. This is the most prestigious outdoor field event of the year and will include the only Celebrity Challenge in Ireland. Hopefully weather permitting a great day of good ploughing and good general entertainment will be had on the day.
Irish Cancer Society annual Daffodil Day fundraiser is Friday, 27th March. It is the biggest and longest running fundraising day for the Society and money raised helps to fund essential services for families touched by cancer. Please support by buying and wearing a Daffodil.
Lenamore N.S enrolment

At the March monthly meeting of Legan ICA local beautician Sarah Keogh gave a demonstration on skin care and application of make-up. A very enjoyable and informative evening was had by all. Sarah who is a staff member of Ward’s Spa Longford presented all with samples of skin products and answered questions from members. This Sunday, March 22nd the ICA walk takes place in the grounds of Castle Forbes Estate in Newtownforbes. Meeting at parish hall in the village at 2.45pm. The walk will take between 60 and 90 minutes to complete. This is a wonderful opportunity to visit the grounds and gardens at Castle Forbes and please dress appropriately for the weather. All welcome.
Results of last week’s Inny Anglers Lotto draw held on Friday 13th March in The Hill, Carrickboy for a jackpot of €6,850. Numbers drawn were 3, 4, 10 and 17. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners of €40 each were John Kirwin and Michael Nolan. This week’s draw takes place in Mitchell’s for jackpot of €6,900. Legan Inny Anglers wish Chloe Doherty a speedy recovery.
Results of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday, 9th March in Connaughton’s Rathowen for a jackpot of €10,000. Numbers drawn were 2, 7, 24 and 30. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners of €35 were Thomas McLoughlin, Jenny Kelly and Sharon Doherty. This week’s draw took place on Monday in Slowey’s and results will be published next week.
The Funeral Mass for the late Pat McCormack, formerly Rockpeyton who died in England will be celebrated on this Friday, March 20th at 11.00am in St Mary’s Church, Legan. Removal takes place on Thursday evening at 6.00pm. To his family relatives and friends we extend our sincere sympathy.
