Heartiest congratulations are extended to Nancy Matthews, Clooneen who celebrated a very special birthday on Tuesday 10th. Discreetly organised by her son, Patrick, though not a lady for putting herself in the limelight, Nancy thoroughly enjoyed the occasion. Needless to say the Clooneen folk revel in situations like this. Nancy and Patrick would like to thank all the relations, neighbours and friends who attended the birthday party last Tuesday night in Keogh’s. A great night was had by all with music provided Olive Kilbane and Anne Murphy with the celebrations continuing into the early hours. Appreciation is also expressed to all those people who gave cards, Mass bouquets and presents. The same sentiments also go to the musicians, Ciarán and Mary Keogh for their hospitality, Christina in the Pikers Lodge for delicious food, Canice Dunphy and staff in Super Valu for the lovely cake, St Columba’s GFC for the loan of the Berco and kettles and all the guests who made it such an enjoyable and memorable night. Enjoying perfect health we wish Nancy many more years of the same.

Many thanks to Fr. Tom Murray and Luke Baxter for organising a very enjoyable night in Granard Library on Thursday night last. We were all reminded of the beautiful songs and talent of John McCormack. All who attended drifted back in time to memories of their own childhood and the atmosphere was of one never to be forgotten. Thanks to all concerned for arranging the night and hopefully that there will be more nights of the same to come.
