St Patrick’s GAA Club
Lotto: The Arva Football Club Lotto draw was held in the Clubrooms on Tuesday, 10th March 2015. The Jackpot was €8,150. Numbers drawn - 10 / 11 / 20 / 28 – no winner. €50 each – Paddy Mulligan, Forthill. Jim Moran, Arva. Conor and Arlene Ellis, Drumnawall. The Jackpot on Monday night last 16th March was €8,200. Lotto Envelopes can be left in the Letterbox in St Patrick’s Hall next to the National School for collection on Monday evenings and everyone is welcome to attend the draw. GAA: On this Sunday Arva will have Crosserlough as visitors to Michael Cully Park for the first round of the Cavan All County Football League Division 1B. It’s a long time since we had the Black & Amber in Arva which shows the strides the players have made over the past few years. We need all supporters to come along and cheer on the players in what is sure to be a big test for them.
Ties: The GAA Club have Ties for sale at Arva Post Office and they are very well designed. All the players wore them at the recent Dinner Dance courtesy of Noel Doyle, Farrangarve, Arva supplier of PVC Windows and Doors. The club is indebted to Noel for his generous sponsorship.
Are extended to Mr Gavin Doyle, Farrangarve, Arva who has been appointed an Inspector with the Department of Education and Skills. Gavin will be based in an office in Galway and will be carrying out school inspections in counties Mayo, Galway, Clare, Tipperary North and Limerick City. This is a great promotion for Gavin and on behalf of all his friends in Arva we wish him every success in the years ahead.
Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 27th May to 1st June and Bookings for the Pilgrim Section should be made through the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Cullies, Cavan. Bookings for the Assisted Pilgrim Section should be made with Fr Kevin Fay, Lavey, Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan.
For the Arva Church of Ireland Parish Group – Sunday 22nd March – Morning Prayer Service in Carrigallen and Columbkille at 10.00 am and in Arva and Gowna at 11.30 am.

Parishioners in the area were delighted to hear the Chapel Bell peal out over the countryside again following much needed work which was carried out over the past few months. It will ring each day at 12 noon and 6pm and also 15 minutes before Mass times. The new gates which are being made by Noel Magarahan, Gartylough will soon be in place and we thank Fr Donald Hannon C.C. for all the work he is undertaking to have the Church of the Sacred Heart looking at its best.
St Patrick’s Hall
Which has for so long been a focal point in the community will soon receive much needed renovations. Cavan County Council have granted Planning Permission to the Pastoral Council and we look forward to the commencement of the work as soon as grant aid is available.
St. Mary’s National School – Centenary
The book committee are currently looking for old photos, stories, poems and memories from past pupils of the school. They are also looking for names of past pupils who became priests or nuns over the years. If you can help in any way, please contact the school on 049-4335560.
St. Mary’s National School Parents Association held a very successful Table Quiz on Friday last in the Breffni Arms Hotel. The committee would like to thank everyone for their support as all proceeds will go towards Centenary Celebration projects.
Agricultural Show Society
Will hold a meeting on this Thursday night, 19th March at 9pm in the Resource Centre, Market Square, Arva. All members are requested to attend and new members are always welcome.
Continues in St Patrick’s Hall, Arva each Sunday night with €3,190 in prize money to be won each week - it is one of the biggest around – Eyes Down at 8.30pm.

Trip to Carlingford
The Arva Active Age will be tajking a 5 day trip to Carlingford, Co Louth this summer and we will have the full details in next week’s issue.
Arva Trotters meet at the Breffni Arms Hotel each Sunday at 11.15am and Thursdays at 8.00 pm. Everyone welcome to join in.
Temple Street, Children’s Hospital
A night of Song and story by a host of various performers will take place in O’ Hara’s bar and Lounge, Main Street, Arva on Friday, 27th March in aid of Temple Street, Childrens Hospital. Everybody is welcome to what promises to be a great nite of entertainment. So come along and sing a song or just enjoy local raw talent young and old. A night not to be missed.
The Breffni Kickers Line Dancing Classes continue each Thursday night in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva. Beginners at 8.30pm followed by the more advanced at 9.30pm. So get those dancing shoes ready for nights of fun and craic in a friendly atmosphere.

Cavan County Council in partnership with Arva Tidy Towns will present a talk on composting system in St Patrick’s Hall Saturday 28th March at 11.30am. Arva wish to invite all interested.
Bible Study meeting will be held in Corlisbratten Methodist Church on this Thursday night, 19th March at 8pm. Mr Terry Waters from the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship will speak on “Perspectives on Prayer”. Everyone welcome.
