Dinner Dance The Carrickedmond GAA dinner dance takes place in the Rustic-Inn Abbeyshrule on Saturday night next the 10th January ‘15 with the meal been served at 8:30pm. This event is always a great night of music song and dance and a night where all parishioners, club members, and players have a chance to come together to enjoy a club and parish annual event. This year medals for various competitions won including the Intermediate championship will be presented on the night. Music will be supplied by the very popular local “Dance on Band”. Tickets cost €25 each and are still available by contacting any club officer.

Christmas Parish Newsletter There are still copies of the Carrickedmond/Abbeyshrule Christmas newsletter available and can be had by contacting Fr Charlie. This year’s issue is full of very interesting reading about various groups in the parish and lovely articles of times past including old photographs. This news letter would be of interest to people from the parish now living away.

Defibrillator Group:

Defibrillator training will re-commence in the coming weeks. People due to do their two year re-certification will be contacted by text soon. When contacted please reply by text to confirm you will attend training. A class for new people wishing to learn the skills of CPR and how to use a defibrillator will take place during February 2015. If you are interested please contact Seamus McGuire at 086-8286748. The committee would like to wish all in the parish a very happy and healthy new year.

Back to School All students from the parish are now back to school following the Christmas holidays. Hopefully, all had a very enjoyable Christmas and are settling back into school life well.

Charity Match

Well done to all present and past footballers from the parish that togged out on St Stephens Day for the annual charity football match in aid of St Christopher’s Centre Longford. The game took place in the Michael Moran Park and was enjoyed by all. Following the game the players and supporters made their way over to the Rustic-Inn Abbeyshrule where a great night of music song and dance was had by all. If you would like to contribute to this worthy charity you can do so by contacting Mairead McDonnell up until Saturday night next.

Thanks Fr Charlie PP would like to thank all who took part in and helped out with the liturgy at Christmas in the parish. Thanks especially to all who came to the choir in Carrickedmond and Abbeyshrule during Christmas.
