Streete Parish Park
A 5 kilometre walk/run fundraiser will be held on this Sunday, 11 January, leaving Streete Parish Park at 2pm. All donations received will be donated to St. Christopher’s Longford. Looking forward to your support.
At the walk held recently in aid Longford Westmeath Carer’s Association a total of €380.00 was raised. Thanks to everyone who braved the elements to walk around Higginstown in aid of this very worthy association.
The monthly meeting of Granard I.C.A. guild takes place on this Thursday, 8 January in the Credit Union meeting room at 8.00pm. There will be a Bring and Buy sale on the night so bring along any small unwanted gifts. The competition for the Steegan Cup will also take place at this meeting. The theme for the competition is to compose a “Limerick”. So get the thinking caps on. The guild wishes a very Happy New Year to all members their families and friends.

Visitor Centre Project
Public Meeting and Monthly Draw. Happy New Year to all. Our next public meeting takes place on Monday next, 12 January at 8.30pm in the Community Centre, Barrack St. We will also hold our monthly draw for January at the meeting. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. At last we are now in the final stages of completing the purchase of the property from NAMA. It has been a long hard road for all concerned. Thanks to all who have helped so far.

Thanks to all who subscribed to our Annual collection for Meals on Wheels recently. All money collected will be used locally. Your continued support is much appreciated.
Bingo continues in the Community Centre Granard each Wednesday night commencing at 8.45pm. Jackpot now stands at €18,800 in 42 calls or less. It could be you, why not come along and join in the fun.
Granard Pitch & Putt
The Club held their annual Church Gate collection on Saturday and Sunday 3 and 4 January. The club wish to thank all who supported the collection it is greatly appreciated. The Club would like to wish all members and their families the best of luck health and happiness for 2015.
A walk took place on 28 December in Abbeylara in aid of Hospice Homecare. To date at total of €1080 has been raised. Many thanks to all who took part and contributed so generously. Fund remains open for a further two weeks. Donations will be gratefully accepted by Mary O’Connor Carragh Granard.

A book of poems composed by the late Felix Halton Drumgore Loughduff Co. Cavan and compiled by Bridie Halton is currently on sale at €15.00 each. This is a beautiful production of with many of the poems dedicated to people he cherished in his lifetime. The book is available in Granard at Granard Area Action Group Information Office Main Street Granard.
An information officer from Co. Longford Citizens Information Service will attend Granard Area Action Group Information Office Main Street Granard each Thursday morning from 10.30am to 12.30pm. No appointment necessary. Service will resume on this Thursday 8 January 2015.
