Creative Writing

Scríobh, Carrigallen Creative Writing group continue for this season on 14, 21, 28 January, 4, 11 and 25 February in Carrigallen Library at 8.00pm.

This could be your New Year Resolution! Do you write? Do you want to write? All you need is a pen and paper, come join with us in a relaxed and friendly setting, ordinary people writing together in a safe environment! Booking is essential as spaces are limited. For more information please contact Helen on 04943 39188. Library opening hours Monday 1.30pm to 3.30pm & 4.00pm to 8.00pm; Wednesday 10.45am to 2.45pm & 3.00pm to 5.00pm and Saturday 10am to 1pm.

Social Dancing

Social dancing will be held next Saturday night, 10 January, in the Kilbrackan Arms Hotel from 10:00pm to 12:30am. Music supplied by The Hustlers. All are welcome!

The draw was held on Saturday, 3 January and the numbers drawn on the night were 1, 13, 20, and 26. There was no Jackpot winner and the four winners of €50 each were Gerry Gorby, Hugh Reilly, Conor McCabe and Rosaleen McKenna. Next week’s draw will be held in Gorbys on 10 January 2015 when the Jackpot will be €3,500. Those in charge of the draw will be Tommy Brady, Brendan Kiernan and Michael Reilly. The result from the draw which took place on 27 December 2014 is as follows, numbers drawn were 11, 20, 28, and 31. There was no jackpot winner and the winners of €50 each were Cassie Dolan (14 Club), John Mulligan (14 Club), A.G.N. Reilly and Dolores Reilly.

Christmas Swim

Christmas morning swim was held at Gulladoo Lake, with all proceeds going to North West Hospice. This event was organised by Cathriona McManus and Áine Murray. Well done girls and to all who helped out in anyway in making this another very successful fundraiser! Congratulations to all those who braved the elements in aid of this worthy cause, and even local County Councillor Paddy O’Rourke, Cathaoirleach Leitrim County Council, did not disappear after the photo-shoot, he waited and took the plunge, complete with his Chain of Office and green dickie bow! A big thank you to all who attended and supported this event!

Sympathy

Sympathy is expressed to Sean Ledwith and family, Killahurk, Carrigallen on the recent death of his mother Brigid Ledwith, Navan, Co Meath and formerly of Portlongfield, Killeshandra, Co Cavan. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam uasal.

Outreach Service

The Mohill Family Support Centre’s Outreach Service will be available in Carrigallen’s Primary Care Centre every Tuesday from 10:00am to 12:30pm.
