Active Age Christmas Party
This year our party was held in Cox’s of Dromod on Wednesday, 17th December with over 60 people participating including 20 from Mohill. The parish priest of Cloone/Aughavas Fr Peter Tiernan and the local Rector Rev. Linda Frost also attended. We were lucky with the weather which made it relatively easy to travel and everybody was in a party mood. On our arrival we were received with a hearty welcome by the staff and management and all our immediate requirements were attended to. Our dining area was well decorated with a large Christmas tree and plenty of tinsel and balloons which added to the atmosphere for the night. There was a triple choice of menus, all of which were served hot and consisted of generous helpings. The dessert were real waist builders but were enjoyed none the less. Pauric Farrell and Pat Gavigan provided the music and entertained us with variety of songs while dessert and coffee/teas were being served. As soon as there was room to dance the members took to the floor and enjoyed themselves for the rest of the night. Guest artist sang or delivered recitations included Dolores McIntyre, Maureen Heslin, Michael Solon and Santa Claus (in the person of ) Peter Kilkenny who arrived later in the night with his reindeers and was in great demand. There were numerous spot prizes provided on the night and our chairperson, Mrs Irene Argue thanked all the sponsors for their generosity and the management and staff for a lovely meal and excellent service. She thanked the organisers, Teresa Slevin and Marian Shanley for looking after the bookings and travel arrangements and Pauric Farrell for his excellent music. In concluding she thanked everyone who came and wished them all a Happy Christmas and peaceful New Year.
Pray for the happy repose of the soul of Sean Reynolds, Station Road, Mohill and formerly of Annaghbrenahan, Cloone whose funeral mass took place on Saturday in Cloone.
