Heartiest congratulations and best wishes are extended to Thomas McCabe, Aughanoran, son of Jim and the late Rita McCabe and Carol Duffy, Springpark, Coolarty, daughter of Sean and Anne Duffy on exchanging marriage vows at St. Mary’s Church, Granard on Friday, 24th October last. The celebrant for this very special occasion was Clooneen native, Fr. Simon Cadam P.P. Granard. Carol had her sister Laura as her chief bridesmaid who was assisted by Joanne Kiernan and Jacinta Reilly. Lorna McCabe and Glenda Clarke were the very radiant looking and proud flowergirls. Best man on the day was Thomas’s brother Dermot with their life long school friends Ruairi McElligott and Bernard Donohoe carrying out the duties of groomsmen. The readings were taken care of by Anne Earley and Gerard Mulvey. Prayers of the faithful were recited by Louise Dunlea, Megan Reilly, Colette McLoughlin, James Reilly and Annemarie Clarke with Anne Duffy and Jim McCabe in charge of the offertory procession. Communion reflection was given by Bernie Kearney. Suitable music was provided by Kate Crossan and Noeleen McCabe. Following the marriage ceremony the wedding party and guests travelled to The Landmark Hotel, Carrick on Shannon where a delicious meal was laid on. There everyone enjoyed the dancing and celebrations into the early hours of Saturday morning. Again on behalf of both their families and many friends we wish Thomas and Carol good health and happiness for the future.
The replay of the Minor ‘A’ Championship Final between Northern Gaels and Clonguish took place at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Saturday last. Following the close encounter on the previous Saturday another exciting and tense affair was expected. Though Clonguish fought bravely it was clear from the throw in that Northern Gaels had the upper hand and were convincing winners in the end. Well done to Jason Matthews who was awarded man of match. Jason notched a total of 2-5. We commend the management team of Dermot McCabe, David Sheridan and Patrick Rogers for having the lads so well prepared for the day. They were certainly a transformed outfit from the last time out.
