The annual Novena to our Blessed Lady will commenced on Wednesday, 22 October at 7.30pm and will continue until Wednesday, 17 December. This is a time of reflection petition praise and thanksgiving. All are welcome to take part.
The final lecture in the series with renowned art critic and historian Ciaran MacGonagal takes place in Granard Branch Library on this Thursday evening 30 October at 7.00pm. Granard I.C.A. guild in association with Granard Community Library hosted the Course with Mr. MacGonigal Art Critic. This course is kindly funded by LWETB. As a follow up to the Art Appreciation classes a trip to Art Galleries in Dublin is being organised by Ms Mary Carlton Reynolds Co. Librarian and will be guided by Mr. Ciaran MacGonagle. The inaugural meeting of the group took place earlier this month and there was great interest and enthusiasm in getting the group established. Our next meeting will take place on Thursday, 13 November at 7.30pm in the O’ Carolan Room at Rath Mhuire Resource Centre. We will be inviting a guest speaker form Longford Historical Society to speak to us on the night.
All groups and activities have recommenced at the Dolmen Centre in Aughnacliffe (Dolmen Failte Active Age Group – Dolmen Day Care Services – North Longford Men’s Group). The Caring and Sharing Association has been active in Longford for thirty years and offers a social event each month to over thirty people with special needs who are from all areas of the county. Our helpers are one-to-one in a group setting offering each person quality friendship and support. Presently we are recruiting volunteers. We welcome volunteers from all walks of life from students of 16 upwards to those who gave retired and wish to share one day a month of their time with another person. Ebola Sierra Leone Appeal
There was an overwhelming response to the Fundraiser for Ebola victims and their families last Sunday 19 October. To bakers buyers donors and those who set up and sold the produce and collectors. A Big sincere Thank You. Funds go direct to Sierra Leone via Sr. Teresa McKeon who gave a powerful talk on the tragedy that is Sierra Leone today. Total raised and forwarded: €3,310.00.
