Last weekend was the first weekend of the National Finals which took place in Athlone . Killashee had three representatives at the finals. Dylan Farrell and Peter Nolan were competing with the Longford cross country team and gave a very impressive performance. Pride of place must go to Cian Clancy who won the U-14 art competition and now has a gold medal to hang alongside the silver medal he won a couple of years in the u12 competition. All involved with Killashee community games are very proud of Cian’s achievements and congratulate him on his success. Good luck to Clodagh and Cait Kiely and Dylan Farrell who are competing in next weekends finals in Athlone. Clodagh is taking part in the U14 long jump, Cait is taking part in the U14 hurdles and Dylan is competing in the U14 800m race.
Longford Harvest Festival committee are holding their Press night on Friday August 22nd at 9.30pm in Gavs Bar, Kenagh. Entertainment, refreshments and a raffle on the night. The Harvest festival field day is being held on Sunday August 31st in Newtowncashel with a variety of side shows, music loads of fun. More details next week. Proceeds in aid of St Christophers.
Congratulations to all the students who received their Leaving Cert results last week. We wish them well as the CAO offers are made this week and hope all their dreams are realised. A number of students will be making other choices and we wish them every success.
The St Brigid’s GAA lotto results for the 11/8/2014 were 3, 9, 22, 30. There was no winner. €40 winner was Paul and Liz, €20 winners were Enda McPartland, Seamus Murray, Frank Casey. The next lotto jackpot will be €6,560 the draw will be held in the Chestnut Tree Killashee.
In the Junior ‘A’ Football Championship Group 4 Round 2, St. Brigid’s were defeated by Carrickedmond on Wednesday, 13 August on a scoreline of 1-8 to 0-14. Best of luck to the junior team in the next round. In the Intermediate Championship, Round 3: Congratulations to St.Brigid’s team who won their game 3-3 to Grattans 0-10. We would like to wish continued success to St Brigid’s who are now into a three way play-off with Rathcline and Sean Connolly’s for two semi-final places. The club would like to extend our congratulations to all Leaving Certificate students in the area who received their results on 13th August. We would like to wish them every success in the future.
