Family tree coffee morning
31st August, Sunday morning any time after 11am to 1:00pm. Come along and share stories about your family tree. We are hoping to map the village family tree at an informal, inter-generational gathering. Ardagh-Moydow Reaching Out group meet regularly in Ardagh Heritage and Creativity Centre as part of the Ireland XO reverse genealogy project. They aim to contact the local diaspora wherever in the world they may be. This coffee morning is an opportunity to learn more about the families of the village and where their descendants have travelled to. We hope to have a good mix of old and young alike sharing stories on the day.

Glen Community Games

The first weekend National Finals of the Community Games has just taken place and AMG CG’s had one representative at the event. Cian McPhillips was part of the county team running in the Cross Country event. We would like to extend congratulations to Cian who came first in the event, winning the gold medal. Unfortunately not enough of his team mates placed high enough for the county to bring home a medal. This weekend coming we have a number of participants representting AMG in different events. Bronagh O’Meara, Paul Smyth and Saoirse McLoughlin are in the U12 Girls, U12 Boys and U10 Girls Model Making. Adam Reilly, Brendan Finnan, Cathal Farrell and Fergal Keane are the U12 Boys Relay Team. If any of the lads are unable to compete, then Jack Mulleady is ready to carry the baton. Aishling Farrell, Courtney Heffernan, Emma Thompson, Katie Lynch, Katie Quinn and Sarah Shea are in the Group Singing. Sarah McPhillips is in the U10 200m. Riona Lynch and Paddy McPhillips are our managers at the event. We would like to wish all of the participants the very best of luck. Hopefully next weeks Leader will have us reporting more medals won.
