Family Fun Day

Family Fun Day

Was previously advertised for Sunday, 9th August will now be held on Sunday, 31st August as an end of summer celebration for the children. Volunteer helpers and ideas for the day are required. Please email ballinaleenotes@hotmail.com. Events will kick off at 3pm at the pitch with a duck race to follow up at the bridge at 6pm. Lines will be on sale for the duck race around the village at €5 each. All proceeds go towards costs associated with the development of the playground.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Portia Duffy, daughter of Mella and Kevin Duffy who recently married Stephen Madden, son of Nuala and Eamonn Madden at a ceremony celebrated by Fr. Brennan and Fr. Carrigy in St. James Church, Clonbroney on Friday, 8th August. Stasia Duffy, Rachel Madden, Niamh Cox and Lorna Keenan were the bridesmaids. Ellen Duffy and Emma Madden were the flowergirls. Jonathan Duffy and Dylan Madden were the page boys, while Philip Madden, Alan Page, Enda Quigley and Vincent Sellars were the groomsmen. Music for the ceremony was provided by Carmel Hackett. The couple had a beautiful reception in the Wineport. Everyone had a fantastic day and wish Portia and Stephen all the health and happiness in their married life together.

Lotto

School

Scoil Samthainn will re-open on Thursday, 28th August. We wish all the school children in the parish a very happy return to school.

Leaving Certificate

Congratulations and well done to all the children in the parish who received their leaving cert results this week. Best of luck with future decisions regarding careers and college and every success in the future.

Ploughing

Colmcille Ploughing Association will hold its annual ploughing and field day on Sunday, 31st August at Dernaferst on the lands of Sam and Andrew Noble. Fun filled day for young and old promised.

GAA

Hard luck to the junior footballers who suffered an unlucky one point defeat to Fr. Manning Gaels. They play Grattan Óg in the remaining championship game. Best of luck there.
