Fr Peter Tiernan to leave
All in the parish were saddened and shocked when news filtered through last week that our parish priest of the last fifteen years, Fr Peter Tiernan will be leaving the parish of Carrickedmond on the 11th of September next and moving to a new parish in Cloone and Aughavas in Co Leitrim. During his time in our parish, Fr Peter proved himself to be a very genuine member of the clergy and was very popular with both young and old in the parish. The door of his home was always open to everyone. He was a quiet man of few words, a great man of prayer and a great supporter of all parish activities. His time among us will always be remembered. As we say good bye to Fr Peter and wish him good luck with his new appointment we remind him that “Good friends are hard to find, Harder to leave and impossible to forget”. As Fr Tiernan prepares to leaves us it has been announced that Fr Charlie Healy, St Marys, Athlone and a native of Dromard, Co. Longford will become the new parish priest of Carrickedmond and will commence his new appointment on the 11th of September next. We welcome and look forward to meeting Fr Charlie and wish him good luck in his new role in our parish.
