Death

The death has taken place of Mr. Tom Reynolds, Clonsilla, Dublin and formerly Annaduff. He was husband of Mullaghboy-born Joan Fee. His funeral took place on Wednesday last, following Mass of the Resurrection in St. Mochta’s Church, Porterstown to Esker Cemetery. Sympathy is extended to Joan, their children Edel, Madeline and Francis, grandchildren Joseph, Thomas, Maria, James, Peter and Lucy, sons in law Fergal and Aidan, brothers Jimmy and John Joe, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Community Centre Meeting

The main items discussed at the Drumreilly Community Centre Committee meeting on Thursday of last week were tenders for the floor varnishing, roof washing and internal and external painting of the building, all of which were decided.

New arrival

Heartiest congratulations go to Tom and Mary Clifford on the birth of their baby girl, the happy event also a source of great joy for Granny Mary in Drumcoura, D.G.

Schools football

A strong finish by Aughawillan enabled them to take the laurels in their Cumann na mBunscol Girls Division 4 final at Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada on Wednesday of last week. The Drumlea lineout was as follows: Megan Lavin, Ella Quinn, Oníosa Mimna, Siobhán Maguire and Caoimhe Prior. Subs: Caitlin Quinn, Molly Prior, Ella Maguire, Lorna McKernan and Emma McGrath.

Recalling June 1993

On his retirement Fr. Eugene Maguire celebrated the forty sixth year of his ordination and forty years as pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish, Scottsdale, Arizona. There were busy times for St. Mary’s Youth Band in preparation for performances in Manorhamilton, Bawnboy, Carrigallen and Ballinaglera, plus an enjoyable coach outing for forty three members to Bundoran. Tenders had been invited towards the carrying out of extensive repairs to St. Mary’s Church. Following extensive work on the Ballinamore-Ballyconnell Canal the waterway was opened to traffic with two cruisers travelling on a test run to Belturbet. Drumreilly Club members and players enjoyed a weekend on a coach outing to Kerry. Athletes Mary McKeon Francis Holahan and Bríd Lunney had booked their passage to the Community Games finals in Mosney. Drumreilly opened their U-12 Championship campaign with a 4-18 to 3-3 victory over Aughnasheelin this to be followed a win over Fenagh, a 2-10 to 3-7 draw with Carrigallen and a 2-12 to 3-5 win over Carrigallen in the Divisional final. They continued their unbeaten run with a 2-9 to 2-5 win over Drumkeerin to be beaten by Gortletteragh by 0-13 to 0-9 in a Titan Rural Final after extra time in Cloone. The Drumreilly lineout in this game was as follows: Declan McGirl, Ciaran Holahan, Seán Beirne, Damian Holahan, Mattie Fee, Adrian McGirl, Gavin Beirne, Declan Maxwell, James Holahan (0-4), Damian McGovern (0-1), Frank Holahan, Gerard Conlon (0-1) and Sinéad Quinn (0-3). Death

The death has taken place at Our Lady’s Hospital Navan in his ninety-fourth year of Mr. Jimmy Mimna, Prioryland, Duleek, Co. Meath and late of Drumshangore. His funeral took place on last Friday following Mass of the Resurrection in St. Cianan’s Church, Duleek to Holy Cross Cemetery. Sympathy is extended to his wife Brigid, sons Chris and James, daughters Margaret Bríd and Mary, brothers, sisters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives. G.A.A. Snippets

The Senior Championship will swing into action on Saturday next at 6.30pm. in Carrigallen with Drumreilly doing battle with Gortletteragh. The Drumreilly v Mohill Division 5 game was a non starter on Saturday last.

Meeting

The weekly meeting of Drumreilly Active Age Group was held in the Community Centre on Wednesday last. The recent trip to Cork was reviewed, and preparations were made for attendance at the Killeshandra Social.
