The Parents Association of St. Patrick’s N.S. Killeen is holding a 5K walk/run fundraiser on Sunday 15 June at 12pm. Starting from McElvaney’s Pub Coolarty. Registration will take place at McElvaney’s from 10.30am. Cost €10 per adult. €5 per child or €20 per family. Refreshments will be served afterwards. Your support would be appreciated.
On Saturday last members of the Club and friends climbed Croagh Patrick to raise funds for Gillian Martin who is travelling to Belarus to volunteer in Gorodishche Orphanage on Sunday, 22 June. A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the climb and donated so generously. On Thursday, 12 June, the AGM takes place in the shooting grounds. All members are requested to attend please.
Granard I.C.A. guild held their meeting last Thursday night. There were a lot of items for discussion on the agenda. While there are no monthly meetings now until September, we have a very busy Summer ahead, commencing with the Pitch & Putt competition in Ballinalee on Saturday, 14 June at 10am, three members from the guild are taking part. The Federation heat of the National Brown Bread baking competition sponsored by Aldi Stores on Monday, 16 June in Kenagh. The winner of the Longford heat will receive €100 and go forward to the regional final to take place in An Grianan on 14 August. On Monday evening in Kenagh, there will be a Gardening talk also and a “Bring and Buy” plant sale. Refreshments will be served and the evening is open to everyone. This event is open to members and non members - admission €5 with door prizes. Refreshments will be served.

The SVP Shop situated at Market Street Granard is open each Friday from 10am to 5.00pm and Saturday 11.00am to 5.00pm. The shop is also open on the first Tuesday of the month from 10.00am to 5.00pm. Bargains galore with something for everyone.
We are holding a monster auction in Higginstown on Sunday, 22nd June to raise funds to help support all our teams from U8 to adult level. We are asking everyone to look around their house or property and see if there is anything they don’t want or need anymore. If you have any items please consider donating these items to our club and we will sell it at the auction to raise much needed funds to support our clubs activities. Some of the items we will have for sale in the auction are 4 new tyres; 2 live lambs; a session of reflexology; a trampoline (with safety netting), books; some framed landscape photos; a load of timber; a pregnancy scan for 10 to 15 cows; wardrobes etc. Some thing for everyone! Starting this Wednesday (11th June) between 7pm and 9pm we will be in the clubhouse in Higginstown collecting any of the smaller items you wish to donate to our club for the auction. We will also be there Thursday and Friday 7pm to 9pm , Saturday 1pm to 4pm and Sunday 12.30pm to 2pm. Saturday and Sunday times may change depending on when the Reserve League Division 2 final is fixed for. Drop in your cast offs, bric-a-brac to us at the Siopa or to the Centre, everything accepted and welcomed. New stock arriving weekly, ladies, gents and children’s, all sizes. Beautiful jewellery to finish off that special outfit also shoes and sandals. Books are clearing at 50 cent each. Due to popular demand the shop is now open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 10am to 5pm. All proceeds from the shop go directly and totally to projects within the community.
We will resume again on Monday next 9 June meeting as usual at Higginstown Sports Complex at 7pm. We will start off our away walks and head to Derrycassin Woods. Looking forward to seeing all our walkers out old and new everyone welcome.
Bingo continues each Wednesday night in the Community Centre, Barrack Street, Granard at 8.45pm. Proceeds go to St. Mary’s GAA and Abbeylara GFC. Your continued support is much appreciated. Jackpot this week is €16,100.
Pitch and Putt
Competitions continue on Wednesday evenings for all members – adults and juveniles and new beginners at 7pm. Those competitions will continue for the rest of the Summer months weather permitting. Anybody who is not a member must pay green fees €5 per day for adults and €2 for Juveniles.
