Barracks temporarily closed
Ballymahon Garda Station will be closed for approximately six weeks to allow for upgrading works on the premises. This work commenced on 19th May. During this time the local Gardai will operate from Lanesboro Garda Station. If however, you need say, a Passport form signed or have any concerns the Gardai will be present at Bridgeways Resource Centre, across from St. Matthews Church on two days a week, Mondays and Fridays from 2p.m. to 4p.m.
Join our Boys Trust
Many thanks to everyone who supported the Tangle Wood fundraiser for the “Join our Boys” Trust in Ronnie and Mary Nally’s Bar recently. It was a very successful night with great music and song from local and visiting musicians of all ages. €2,320 has been raised already. Donations are still coming in. We will update you on the final amount when fundraising is completed.

To the Co Roscommon senior football team who were very narrowly beaten by Mayo in the Connaught championship played in Hyde Park on Sunday and to Mark Nally who was on the Roscommon team. Mark is a son of Frankie Nally, native of Moigh, Ballymahon and grandson of Celene.
5K Road Race
St. Clare’s National School, Tubberclare will hold a 5K Road Race on Sunday next, June 15th. The Walk/Run begins at 12.30p.m. Registration will take place on the morning in the school from 10am. €10 per adult, children are free. Refreshments will be served. Everyone welcome. Your support will be appreciated.
Hard luck to the Longford Senior football team who were narrowly beaten by Wexford in the Leinster Championship on Saturday evening last at Glennon Bros Pearse Park in Longford and to local man Kevin Diffley who was on the team. We wish the best of luck to Kevin and the team when they play in the Qualifiers.
Congratulations to Ronan Farrell, son of Keith and Megan, Philadelphia and grandson of Michael and Liz, Mostrim Road who was one of the Mascots for the Irish Soccer team when they played Costa Rica in the International Friendlies at the weekend over in Philadelphia. Well done Ronan.
Congratulations to Co. Longford Hurling team who won the Lory Meagher Cup when they beat Fermanagh by 2 pts in Croke Park on Saturday afternoon last and to Conor Keegan, son of Vinnie and Ann, Forgney who was on the team. The team proudly paraded the Cup at half-time during the Longford-v-Wexford game in Glennon Bros Pearse Park on Saturday evening. Well done to all the lads.
The Pigeons Golf Society
Well done to Ken Lovell, Rathmore who had a great winning score of 43 pts in The Pigeons Golf Society outing which was played in Esker Hills recently and also to Thomas Lennon, Rathmore who came in 2nd with a score of 38pts.
Umbra clothing collection for Kenya
Please support the used clothing collection to aid Fr Nicholas Maanzo and his parish of St. Patrick’s Parish, Kitui, Kenya. The collection will take place on Wednesday, 11th June between 9am and 12 noon in Forgney and Tang Church Car parks.

Recently elected Cllr. Members of second class in St. Matthews national school are invited to become Altar servers in St. Matthews Church. Application forms are available from Bryan Kennedy at the school. Fr. Padraig also needs some parents to be available to assist with the altar servers in the church sacristy before and after Mass.
The family of the late Theresa Story (nee Hill), an aunt of Breege Murray, Lower Main Street, who was originally from Listubbit from where she emigrated to the United states, has donated a set of vestments to our parish in her memory. Theresa, who was a sister of the late May Whelan, died on 5th August 2011. Many thanks to the Story family for the gift of the beautiful vestments.
The annual Novena of Prayer in honour of the Sacred Heart will take place in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Carrickedmond with Mass and Novena Prayer from Thursday, 19th June at 8pm until Friday, 27th June at 8pm.
Will take place in Cloncallow on Sunday, 22nd June at 5.30pm and later in the evening at 7pm in Forgney Graveyard. On Sunday, 13th July, it takes place at Shrule Cemetery and later in the summer, on Sunday, 10th August, Cemetery Sunday will be held in Kilcomoc Cemetery.

An Irish language summer course, SIAMSA, is taking place from July 7th to 11th in Gaelscoil, Longfoirt. The course will be held from 9.30a.m. to 3p.m. each day and will cater for students from second class to First Year.
