School fundraiser

School fundraiser

As you know the one and only fundraising event for our school this year will be an evening at the Longford Greyhound track on Friday, June 20th. We need you to lend your support to this event. Each family is being asked to sell 5 tickets. As you see each ticket has a stub that must be filled and returned to the school with the money as soon as possible. All stubs and monies must be returned by Tuesday, June 17th at the latest. We are relying and depending on your help to make this event a success.

Course

An Irish Language Summer Course (SIAMSA!) will take place from Monday 7th July to Friday 11th July in Gaelscoil Longfoirt. The course will take place from 9.30am to 3.00pm each day and will cater for students from Second Class to First Year. Further information and applications forms available from Yvonne Ní Mhurchú 087-2642665.

Tidy Towns

The committee is working very hard to have our village and surrounds looking its best for the judging, which starts any time after Monday 1st June. Residents are asked to make a special effort to clean around their property and put out window boxes and hanging baskets. More help would be appreciated. Anyone wishing to help can contact Padraig Farrell or Micheál Carrigy. Playground: It is very disappointing to see the amount of sweet and ice-cream wrappers being dumped by children in the playground. Again, we are reminding people that there is a large penalty for illegal dumping. The playground is being observed and people will be reported to the authorities. We would encourage people with a conscience to help out in keeping the playground clean and not just ignore the rubbish. We would also ask parents to discourage their children, of all ages, from taking part in or getting involved in behaviour which is disrespectful and inappropriate in front of smaller children. Any such behaviour should not be tolerated by anyone using the playground. The equipment is for use by children only.
