Pike Anglers
The Ballinamore pike anglers fished for the Mich Crosby Trophy on Garadice Lake on Saturday 31st May. 1st Mick Crosby, 11lb 13ozs; 2nd Tony Gallagher, 8lb 10ozs; 3rd Alan Gallagher, 6lb 8ozs. Ollie Gallagher has now gone six competitions without catching a fish equalling Denis Diggen’s record!

Mabs guide to back to school costs 
The school year is nearly at an end and it won’t be long until September is with us again and children go back to school – with all the associated costs. The list can seem endless. Rather than wait for the last frantic weeks of August, it’s a good idea to start planning now and to try and spread the cost of going back to school over the summer. Church Street, Ballinamore, Sunday Service is at 12.15pm every Sunday except on the 4th Sunday which is held in Drumreilly Church, Drumreilly.

Childcare
An Naíonra are now taking bookings for September 2014, for children aged 2 years and 10 months on 1st of September 2014. We provide places under the ECCE scheme (Free Pre-School Year). If your child is going to school in September 2015 and was born between 2/2/2010 and 30/6/2011 they are entitled to avail of this scheme. We also provide Community Childcare Subvention (CCS) for family on low incomes. We are having an open day/week from Monday 9th June to Friday 13st June. Childlcare Ltd
Ballinamore after school will hold an enrolment week from the 9th to the 13th June 2014 at Lollipop kids. Ballinamore Afterschool offers a quality childcare service in safe and stimulating environment to out of school children. Activities include table top games, dance, sand and water play, home corner , blocks ,art/crafts, television and video, computer instruction and play station games , pool, outdoor play, clay modelling ,outings to the library and playground and many more activities .We are open from 1.30pm to 6.00 pm. Homework supervision in included in each session. Junior and senior infants are collected at Ballinamore school. We have a limited number of places vacant in our service for September 2014, all other names will be placed on a waiting list and places will be filled as they become available. Blood donations

The Blood Transfusion mobile unit team will return again to The Community Centre, Ballinamore on Wednesday, 11th June, 2014 from 3p.m. to 5p.m and 7p.m. to 9.30p.m. Some 3000 units (pints) of blood are needed overall each week to cater for emergency and routine cases requiring transfusions of blood and blood products in hospitals all over the country.  Thanks to everyone who attended the last clinic. Please come again to the Community Centre, Ballinamore on Wednesday 11th June 2014 and if possible bring a friend.

12 Years a Slave
On Tuesday, 17th June at 7.30pm in Ballinamore Library there will be an opportunity to see the film “12 Years a Slave” - Oscar winner for Best Picture; Supporting Actress and Adapted Screenplay and Bafta winner for Best Film and Best Actor, it has been described as the “Unmissable Film of the year” It tells the extraordinary true story of Soloman Northup a free black man from upstate New York who in 1841 is abducted and sold into slavery and his struggle to survive during these years. In his twelfth year in captivity, a chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist forever alters his life. Remember: Admission free and all welcome.

Art camp

Summer summer summer ... Get your colours out and your imagination going. It’s time for Dawn’s Art Camp. We will be painting, drawing, making and designing. The camp will run from Monday 30th June - Thursday 3rd July. Junior Camp 1st, 2nd & 3rd class in the morning. Senior Camp 4th, 5th & 6th class afternoon. Community Elections
Elections to the Ballinamore Area Community Council will be held on Wednesday, June 25th at 9p.m. in the new Hall/Scout Den adjacent the Sports Ballinamore Hall. There will be two seats for each of the six parish areas of Aughawillan, Aughnasheelin, Ballinamore, Corraleehan, Drumreilly and Fenagh plus three overall- a total of fifteen. Every organisation in the area which is registered with Leitrim Community Forum can nominate one or two (one male and one female) candidates with each parish area nominating a person/persons living in their own parish. Nomination forms will be sent to all organisations this week and an outside Presiding Officer has been appointed to supervise the elections. The voting process will be similar to that used by Leitrim Development Company for their area representatives elections every third year. The new Council members will serve for two years and take up office early in July. Organisations should ensure they are registered by checking the Community Forum website www.leitrimcommunity.com.. They will also need this registration to vote in the new Municipal Area organisation elections in a few weeks and in LDC elections later in the year. There are huge challenges facing areas such as this as more and more decision making is being taken further and further away from people and such decision making plus resulting resources are concentrated in bigger population areas. Issues which will have to be addressed by the new Council over coming years will include provision of local employment (particularly a fair share of available public service employment), public transport, adequate broadband, threats to our library service here, threats to post offices and daily postal deliveries, farming resources, environment issues, convenient availability of health services, retention of schools, roads, a fair share of available county resources, availability of retail outlets and many others. Each individual can play a part by ensuring that organisations of which they are a member of register, make appropriate nominations and vote where necessary on June 25th.


New Parish Website. 
The Parish Pastoral Area have launched a website for our four parishes, Oughteragh, Corlough,Carrigallen and Killashandra . We want to make our website an interesting and worthwhile location for both parishioners and visitors to keep up to date with what is happening in all our parishes. Newsletters, Mass Times,  Events, Notices, Parish Groups, Contacts, Death Notices for all parishes will be available and also daily & Sunday Mass readings, links to Kilmore Diocese and Catholic News. We hope that all parish and community groups will see it as a useful resource for getting information out to people. Progress is under way for our upcoming Parish Mission which takes place from 21st September to 28th September. As you can appreciate a lot of work goes into preparing for a Parish Mission and the Priests, Parish Council and Mission sub-committee are working through the many tasks required. And now we need the help of YOU the Parish Congregation. We are having a gathering here in the church on Tuesday 17th June at 8:30pm. We need as many as possible to attend, so if you are prepared to help out in any way  , if you are currently involved as Eucharist Minister, Reader,  Collector, Stewart, Liturgy Committee, Choir, Parish Council, if you have helped to prepare church at Easter / Christmas, could you provide music at the masses / ceremonies.  If you feel you could help in any way PLEASE  come along on the 17th.   Thank you.
