Thanks all who turned out bright and early on Saturday morning last. The litter pick will continue every Saturday from now till October - We invite extra help for Saturday 12th April do a clean up around the village which will include washing / cleaning signage, water pumps, litter bins to make them ready for a paint touch up. A litter pick will also be done on the day and the kerbs swept out and made ready for a mechanical street clean. Again the bulk of this could be achieved in a morning with a start time of 9.00a.m. Bring your rubber gloves and hi -viz vests. Meet opp. the Post Office in Drumlish.
Longford County Choir will be in concert at St. Mary’s Church, Drumlish on Sunday 4th May next (Bank Holiday weekend). This fundraiser is for Heritage projects within the village - Tickets are available locally at the Post Office, Centra & Costcutters.

Art and Model Making
Drumlish/Ballinamuck Community Games, Art and Model Making Competition will take place on Sunday, 6th April from 3p.m. to 5p.m. in the ’98 Hall, Ballinamuck. All entries must be based on a Community Games Theme or Activity. Each child needs to know their date of birth, so they can be placed in the correct age category. The age categories are as follows:- Art competition – ages range from U-8 to U-16, Model Making Competition – Ages range from U-10 – U-16. Paper will be provided. Please make sure that your child brings all other materials i.e. Colouring pencils/markers, Plasticine or Clay for Model Making, etc. Entry Fee €3.

Vigil in Mohill
The monthly vigil will take place next Friday, 4th April. Mass will be held in St. Patrick’s Church at 8pm. The vigil will then continue in St. Ann’s Convent. Mass will be offered again at 12 midnight in St. Ann’s. Everyone welcome.
Paul McCormack, Ken Kerrigan, Donal Madden and Martin McGee (Jun), will cycle doing the “Tour De West” on 10th /11th May from Ballymahon to Sligo and back - a distance of 250 kilometres in aid of Cancer Research. We join their families and friends in wishing them well in their endeavours.

ICA Guild members honoured
On Thursday, March 20th, a Gala Dinner and celebrations of long standing service to ICA members of 20, 30, 40 and 50 years membership took place, in Newcastle House, Ballymahon. ICA National Predident, Liz Wall was present to present the certificates. All guilds from Longford were represented, and a great night was had by all present. We congratulate four of our guild members who received certificates. Betty Creegan and Patrica Lennon for 20 years plus, Tess Murphy for 30 years plus and Peggy Cassidy for 50 years plus. We thank them for their years of dedication to the guild.
60th Longford-Dublin Association Annual Dinner
Takes place in the Red Cow Moran’s hotel on Saturday, April 12th, commencing at 8pm. Award recipients are Drumlish native, Liam Caldwell, and Tom Gilligan, a native of Abbeylara. Cairn Hill Challenge
The 2nd Annual Cairn Hill Challenge 10mile and 10km Road Race will take place on Sunday May 3rd 2014 starting out at Drumlish Community Centre and taking the same routes as last year. In conjunction with this years’ event, an informal walking/running/ jogging group is being organised. This fun group will act as preparation for the big race and getting fit generally. It will start on February 11th at 7pm at Drumlish Community Centre and will be led by expert coach Brendan Doyle from Longford. This is a wonderful opportunity for runners, walkers, joggers and athletes of all abilities to get together and get fit in a relaxed setting while preparing for the May Bank Holiday.
