Tidy Town meeting
A meeting of Ballycloghan/Carrickboy Tidy Town’s will take place in St Anne’s Hall, Ballycloghan on Tuesday, 8th April at 9.30pm. More volunteers are needed in order to maintain our area in the coming months so we invite all residents to be represented at this meeting.
Congratulations to Stacy Donohoe, who won an All Ireland medal for playing rugby with Longford Canterbury Warriors Ladies Rugby, beating Tuam with a 45-0 victory on Saturday last. Stacy has played a key role over the season which culminated in the win. Well done and continued success in the future.
Results of Legan Sarsfield GAA Lotto draw held on Tuesday, 25th in The Hill, Carrickboy for a jackpot of €9,050. Numbers drawn were 3, 12, 14 and 21. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners of €20 each were Bill Murphy, Margaret McDonald, Gerry Gunshinan, Frances Boyce and Kate Ann Moran. This week’s draw took place in Mitchell’s and results will be published next week.

This Friday April 4th is the First Friday of the month and Holy Communion calls to the sick and housebound will be on Wednesday Thursday and Friday at the usual times.
Clothing Factory Reunion
Plans are underway for a re-union of all the people who worked in Ballymahon clothing factory, Claffey’s, Dubtes, Balman, Manford, Manford and Manford Direct. All past employees of these factories, together with their partners, families and friends are invited, and anyone who would like to attend on the night. The venue is the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule on Friday, 25th April starting at 9pm. All are welcome to join in the fun. Music will be provided by very popular and various artists follow by a disco with Michael Rooney. It promises to be a great night for all and with a chance for you to renew old acquaintances. There will be a Raffle and spot prizes on the night. Donation buckets will be at door and all proceeds will be donated to local charities.
The members of Legan ICA together with members from all over the county enjoyed a wonderful night of Celebration in Newcastle House recently. 100 members attended and National President Liz Wall presented members with 20, 30, 40 and 50 years service with certificates. Legan Pitch and Putt team were drawn against Newtowncashel in the play off coming up on Saturday 26th April at 10.00am in Acres Ballinalee. Our 2014 Charity Walk takes place in Longford on Sunday 25th May. The Craft Fair will take place again this year date to be confirmed shortly. Following their three night sell out of their production “Big Maggie” Legan Drama group have decided to put on one more performance on Easter Monday night April 21st in the Aurora Hall, Legan. What better way to finish the Easter holidays than with a visit to the theatre. The proceeds of this night will go to Longford Centre for Independent living so you would be supporting a very worthy cause.
