Lotto: The Arva Football Club Lotto draw was held in the Club Rooms on Monday 24th March. Jackpot €5,600-00 – Numbers drawn 11 /16 / 23 / 25 – No winner. €50 each – Marette Brady, Gurteen. Pat Brady, Rosduff. Eileen Sheridan, Hollybank. The Jackpot on Monday night last 24th March was €5,650-00. Lotto Envelopes can be left in the Letterbox in St Patrick’s Hall next to the National School for collection on Monday evenings and everyone is welcome to attend the draw. The club have an option of paying by direct debit for anyone wishing to join the LOTTO and give the club much needed support. League: Arva travelled to Jim Smith Park, Killinkere to play the home side in the Brady’s Arva Breffni League Division 2 on Sunday last but were defeated by 1-13 to 1-9. The home side started well and had 2 points on the board by the 5th minute but Arva came back strongly and Brian Ellis was on target with 3 points in the 7th, 8th and 11th minutes. Killinkere hit then hit 6 points in a row to leady by 0-8 to 0-3 with 5 minutes left in the first half. In the meantime both sides missed open goal chances. Arva finished the half with 3 points in the 28th, 30th and 31st minutes through Peter Morris, Conal Sheridan and Thomas Brady. With 20 minutes gone in the second half Arva had outscored the home side by 1-3 to 0-5 but disaster struck in the 25th minute when the home side scored a goal to close the scoring. Arva scorers in the second half were Peter Morris inside 20 seconds and another after 14 mins, a fantastic goal from Conal Sheridan (7 mins) and a point after 20 mins. Cavan Senior Football team played fellow table toppers Roscommon in Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday night last and emerged victorious by 3 points. With both teams promoted and meeting in the League Final on Saturday, 26th April in Croke Park there was a feeling that neither side were showing their hand. As far as Cavan supporters were concerned they were happy to get the victory and will be hoping they can continue unbeaten in the Gaelic Grounds, Limerick next Sunday. U-21 Championship: The Cavan U 21 team will meet Monaghan on tonight, Wednesday, 2nd April in the semi-final of the Ulster Championship. The Arva Club are extremely proud to have three members on the panel and we extend continued good wishes to Ciaran Brady, Kevin Bouchier, Jonathan Mc Cabe and all involved - it should be another tough test. All support needed to cheer on the players. Throw-in is at 8 o’clock in the Athletic Grounds, Armagh – be there.
Continues in St Patrick’s Hall, Arva each Sunday night with a good attendance. With over €3,100-00 on offer each night it is one of the best sessions around. Eyes down at 9pm.

The Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 27th May to 1st June. Bookings for the Pilgrim Section are with Mc Ginnity Travel, Cavan and for the Assisted Pilgrim Section with Rev Kevin Fay, Lavey, Co Cavan. Early booking is essential as places are limited. Tickets are on sale to support the Assisted Pilgrim Section and all support will be much appreciated.
Confirmation for the Parish of Killeshandra took place in St Brigid’s Church, Killeshandra on Saturday last 29th March. The Bishop of Kilmore Most Rev Leo O’Reilly Confirmed the children of the Parish which includes those from St Mary’s National School, Arva. There were 18 in all from Arva - Caleb Boughtwood, Richard Cully, Shane Dobson, Seamus Donegan, Conor Ellis, Emily Finnegan, Maria Finnegan, Lauren Gilsenan-Quinn, Jamie Gray, Luke Hurson, Holly Lynch, Aisling MacManus, Oisin McDonnell, Claire O’Connor, Clare Scott, Aaron Shanaghy, Emma Walch, and Ellie-May Stewart.
Arva Foróige Club is hosting a Variety night on Sunday, 13th April in the Breffni Arms Hotel at 7.30pm. All proceeds go to Arva Swimming Pool Development and Arva Foróige Club. Admission is just €5.

Special Olympics Ireland urgently requires volunteers to help with its national collection day this April. The sport charity’s annual collection day takes place throughout Ireland on Friday, 11th April. Cavan Water Safety Area Committee wished Margaret Flynn from Arvagh good health and happiness on her retirement at their AGM in March. Margaret dedicated over 30 years of service to the organisation. She held the position of DLP for a long number of years and also membership officer.
