Parish Clean up

It is hoped to do a full clean up of the roadsides in the parish of Bornacoola on Saturday week next, April 12th we will be looking for lots of volunteers in all areas and a few people with tractors and trailers to collect the bags and bring them to the designated disposal area. New baby

We send our congratulations to Martin and Bernadette Walsh, Ballinalee, (Bernadette nee McGowan, Clooncarne) on the birth of their first baby, a girl to be named Mary, born on Thursday last at Cavan General Hospital to the delight of grandparents Noel and Christine. We wish you health and happiness for the future.


We would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of the late Tony Dennigan, Tomiskey who passed away on Sunday last at Mullingar General Hospital. Tony will be laid to rest in Cloonmorris cemetery today, Wednesday following 11am Mass in St Michael’s church, Bornacoola. May he rest in peace.

GAA Draw

The March draw in the Bornacoola GAA club draw took place on Saturday night last in the Copper Still, thanks to all who supported and to Declan Gilhooley for the entertainment, winners - €100 Sean McGowan, €20 each Ray McBrien, Sean Moffatt, Geraldine McGuinness, Michelle Hackett and Margaret McGowan.

We would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of the late John Talbot, Drumgildra who passed away on Tuesday week last. John was laid to rest in Drumlion cemetery on Saturday last. May he rest in peace.

Bornacoola GAA

Bornacoola Senior team maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 1-13 to 1-8 victory over Leitrim Gaels in Leitrim Village last Saturday. Despite conceding a goal on the stroke of half time – which left the Gaels two points in front at the interval, Brian Reilly finished a well worked moved from the throw in to restore the Bor lead early in the 2nd half and from there we always remained in control despite a very competitive effort from our opponents. The final 20 minutes were played under lights. Team on duty was Gerry Gearty, Jason Conroy, Morgan Shanley, Noel McEnroe, Shane Conroy (0-1), Conor McCauley, John Reynolds, Michael Duignan, Gary McCloskey, Brian Reilly (1-0), Trevor Howard (0-1), Kevin Shanley, Philip Howard (0-3), Ollie Vaughan (0-3), Brian Conroy (0-5). Subs: Conor Hackett, Darragh Healy and John Shanley. Bornacoola’s U-14’s start a busy weekend for the club when they host Glen Gaels on Friday evening in Dromod at 7pm. On Saturday, the seniors are in Shield action as Annaduff come to Dromod for a 6pm throw-in. On Sunday, the Junior team host Aughavas in Division 3 at 12 noon while our Ladies team play their second league game with Dromahair the visitors.

Annaduff GAA

Annaduff Parish/G.A.A Lotto at the draw held in Cox’s Steakhouse Bar, Dromod, there was no Jackpot winner. The numbers drawn were 3,12,13,22. The 50 euro winner was Annie McLoughlin. The 25 euro winners were Megan Reynolds, Hannah Reynolds, Rose Notley, Henry Cawley (Aclare). The next draw takes on Sunday night next in McLoughlin’s of Drumsna with a Jackpot of 6,600 euro. Annaduff were well beaten by Gortletteragh in the Shield in Gortletteragh on Saturday evening. Annaduff lined out as follows : Dean Gill, Micheal O’Dowd, James Cox, Gary Bohan, Michael Lynch, Conor Reynolds, David Duignan, Mattie Cox, Matthew Reynolds, Eoin Gill (0-1), Sean McNabola (0-2), Kenny Cox, Colm Cox (0-1), Cathal Cox, Gavin O’Brien . Subs: Nigel Cox (for M. O’Dowd), Micheal O’Dowd (for G .O’Brien), Gavin O’Brien (for J. Cox). In Div 4 on Sunday last, Annaduff beat Cloone by 3-10 to 1-9 in an entertaining match in Cloone. Annaduff led at the break by 0-6 to 0-4.Three second half goals,two from Joe Cox (who played in goals in the first half) and one from Sean Duignan gave Annaduff a deserved victory. Karate lessons

Karate Class for children continues at Community Centre, Rooskey on Tuesday evenings from 5.45 – 6.45pm. Children 6 years and upwards welcome.
