Suicide Alertness Programme
SafeTALK is a 3 hour suicide alertness programme that prepares participants to identify persons with thoughts of suicide first aid resources. The set of skill taught during the course may help save lives. Participants can expect to leave safeTALK training more willing and able to preform an important helping role for persons with thoughts of suicide.
This free and certified course is being run on Thursday 14th November in Gowna community hall from 7 pm -10pm.

Gowna will be taking part in Junior Scor in Killygarry Community Centre on Sunday next 17th November 3pm. Other clubs partaking are Denn, Drumalee, Cavan Gaels, Kingscourt, Killygarry, Cootehill and Cornafean. Wishing all concerned the best of luck. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
Active age social morning will take place on Tuesday, 19th November in St Brigid’s Community Centre, commencing with Mass at 12 noon. Everyone welcome.

The parishioners off Arva Church of Ireland wish to express their sincere thanks to all the artists and people that supported them in there fund-raising event held in the Breffni Arms Hotel on Friday, 1st November in aid of church restoration fund. It was a very successful and enjoyable night was had by all.
DVD’s of the 1988 Gowna senior football champions are now available in all local shops at a cost of 5 euro per DVD. Coverage of the match and the celebration afterwards are included on the DVD.

Death of Mrs Lucy Bannon
There was widespread regret with the news of the death of Mrs Lucy Bannon, Dingins, Corlismore which occurred at Cavan General Hospital on Thursday, 7th November. Pre-deceased by her husband Paddy. Lucy was a very friendly and gentle person and for many years always attended events in the social club where she was held in high esteem. She will be sadly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her and especially my her sons Hughie, Tom, Oliver and Pat, daughters Breda, Mary and Margaret. Sister Mary Moore, Corduff, grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughters in law, sons in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends to whom we extend our deepest sympathy. Her remains were removed from her residence on Friday evening to the Church of the Holy Family, Loch Gowna, following requiem mass Saturday 11am, burial took place in Loughduff cemetery. May she rest in peace.
Sympathy is extended to the Brady family on the death of there mother, Mrs May Brady, Middletown House, Loughduff, Co. Cavan which occurred at St. Elizabeth’s nursing home Athboy on Thursday, 24th October. Her remains were removed from her home on Saturday evening to St. Joseph’s church, Loughduff and following funeral mass on Sunday, burial took place in adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Congratulations to Clifford Brady, son of John and Rita Brady, Aughavains, Loch Gowna and Pauline Farrell, daughter of Martin and Mary Farrell, Ballinalee who were married in Holy Trinity Church, Ballinalee on Saturday, 26th October. Celebrant of the marriage ceremony was Fr. Simon Cadam and co-celebrant Fr. Brian Brennan. The bride was given in marriage by her father, attended by maid of honour Louise Farrell, bridesmaids Claire Murtagh, Claire Lane and Pamela Coy. Best man David Brady, Groomsmen Gerald Pearson, William Stephens and Darragh Phillps, flower girl Erin Murtagh, Pageboy Ben Brady. To celebrate the occasion a very enjoyable reception was held in the Park Hotel Mullingar. We wish Clifford and Pauline many years of heath and happiness in their married life and in their new home in Aughavains.
