Longford Volunteer Centre are holding an information session on Thursday 26th September at 10.00.am in The Green, Edgeworthstown. The session is aimed at organisations setting out on the path of engaging volunteers in their group. It is designed to help groups understand the best ways to involve volunteers, understand volunteer expectations, and start on a path to ensuring volunteers become a core and positive part of your organisation. The session is about 2 hours long, interactive, fun and a good way to meet like minded organisations. It was developed by Volunteer Ireland, the national volunteer development agency, in conjuction with local Volunteer Centres.

St. Mel’s Festival
The Mel Festival is an event that Longford is hosting as part of the national Gathering initiative. It is a quintessential Longford celebration centring on St Mel’s legacy in Longford and particularly St Mel’s Cathedral. It also ties in with the restoration of St Mel’s Cathedral. One of the features of the festival is that Longford sends out an invitation to anyone with the name Mel from around the World to come to Longford to take part in this unique event.
