Walkers: This is to clarify a misprint in relation to walkers using the GAA ground. Our club insurance covers us for all GAA activities and for any incident which occurs during the time these activities are taking place. Outside of these activities our grounds are meant to be secured. However the club adopted a policy of leaving the gate open to allow people use the facility for walking but this has created a liability issue for us with our insurance brokers as the pathway was originally for access to the stand and spectators at games been played and not as a dedicated walking track. Paid up club members (cost €20 per year – 38cent per week) are covered by our policy, non-members are not and enter the grounds at their own risk. The club will not be locking the gates. A notice to this effect will be erected shortly. The reason for all of this is to safeguard the club and its trustees against a possible claim in the future. Finally any person in the community is welcome to use the facility at any time of day all year round but do so at their own risk if not a member of the club. Should you wish to join contact myself Michael Carrigy or Michael O’Sullivan.
