Community games: AMG Community Games hosts Leinster Table Tennis Finals: Ardagh Community Centre was a hive of action last Sunday as 5 teams travelled from Meath, Dublin, Kildare & Westmeath to play in the Community Games Leinster finals. Enfield won U13 Girls & the winning U13 Boys team was from Delvin. We wish both teams the very best of luck in May in the National Finals. It was a huge accomplishment for Longford to host the Leinster Finals for the 1st time ever. A total of 9 different events, many with several age groups, were held throughout the county, ranging from chess, draughts, tag rugby, mini rugby, badminton, handball, indoor soccer, table tennis & judo. We had a fantastic turnout of volunteers sharing the work load on both Sat & Sun so a sincere word of thanks everyone who helped in any way to make it such a success. Thank you to our dedicated referees Mel Bannon, Barbara Geraty, Barry Callan, Phillip & Jessica Stewart, sandwich makers Noelle Gillen, David Shannon & Brigette Scott, tea servers Diane Stewart & Brigette Scott and all who set up, cleaned up & were on helping on the day: Tom, Bernie, Joanne & Thomas Whyte, Anthony & Mark Thompson, Martin Smyth, Michael Hayden, Leslie Finnan, Eamon O’Kane and most of all Seamus Murray.

Track & Field Day: The Annual Community Games outdoor Track & Field Day for all the children in the parish U8-U16 will be held at Moydow GAA pitch this year on Saturday April 20 starting at 2pm sharp. Long jump, ball throw, sprints & hurdles. The GREAT news is County Longford wants to double the usual participation so this year every area gets to put forward 2 children in every event to go on to the County Athletics Final in June. Yes! You did read that correctly, many more children will get the chance to go forward to the County Final in Ballymahon. Every child is in with a great chance to take part so we want a HUGE turnout on Sat April 20 so we can fill up all the places. Any ?s or if you want to help out on the day contact Eamon O’Kane or Leslie Finnan. Don’t be shy, a lot of helpers will be needed.
