Fleadh Ceol 2013: The forthcoming Fleadh Ceol 2013 will take place in Ballinalee on the weekend of the 10th, 11th and 12th May and will be hosted by the Longford Town Branch of CCE. Entries for the Fleadh will be taken from all members on Saturday, April 20th from 3pm until 4.30pm in The Pavillion on the Green, Edgeworthstown. Late entries will not be considered afterwards as programmes need to be published.

Mini Feile: Music and song competitions will take place on the Green on April 20th, starting at 11am. This mini competition is for members of the Saturday Music Club only. Competitions are for all instruments including guitar, Ceili and pop drums. €2 entry fee to be paid on the day. Call Pauline on 086-1513152

Longford Ploughing Championships: Ploughing Championships takes place on Sunday 14th April at Barne, Edgeworthstown

Mostrim GAA: The Mostrim Football, Hurling and Ladies clubs are hosting amusements at the Longford Ploughing Championships on Sunday next. All those willing to help out on the day please get in touch with Tony Garvey or Michael Burke. There was no winner of the last lotto draw. Numbers drawn were 1, 16, 20, 24. Twenty-five euro winners were Deirdre Stakem, Kathleen McGrath, Corboy; Anthony Reynolds, Barne and Margaret Devine.

Tidy Towns: The evening clean up around the town will commence on Wednesday, April 10th. We are meeting at Philip Quinn’s at 7o’clock. There are various projects to be carried in preparation for this year’s competition and also to have the town looking good for The Gathering in July. Come out and join our group as all help is needed.

COMMUNITY GAMES: Phase one of the Leinster finals took place on Sunday 7th of April different venues held various events. In Edgeworthstown Community Hall we held the finals for draughts, chess and indoor soccer. Congratulations to all the teams that got through. The Mostrim community games committee would like to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers. We’d like to thank all the people who helped with the sandwitches for the numerous referees, umpires required for the games. Darina McGuire, Paula Murphy, Cathal Kelly, Judy Kenny, Mary Connell, Trisha Purdy, Abby Purdy, Patsy Kenny, Mary Doherty to mention but a few. Your help was much appreciated. Also to all the people who helped in the hall Sunday, Majella Kelly, Jade Kelly, KirstyKenny,Lauren Shaughnessy, Cathal Kelly, Paula Murphy, Patsy Kenny Mary Doherty, Kate Doherty, Malcom Green, Chelsea Whelan, Bernie Edwards, Andrew Edwards, Damien Doherty, Tom Victory, Jack Belton, Damien Belton, Adam Kelly, Toby Dempsey and Gerry Green. The event was a great success and a credit to the town on hosting our first major event. We look forward to phase two of the games which takes place in July. We also have the field day coming up on Sunday 21st April we hope this will be another great day and thank everyone for their ongoing support as none of this would be possible without you all.
