League: Arva travelled to Canningstown on Monday evening week to play the home side and came away with the 2 league points on a score Arva 3-8 Knockbride 1-10. Arva were in control for much of the first half and led by 1-6 to 0-4 at the break while between the 7th and 14th minutes of the second half they scored a further 2-2 to leave them 3-8 to 0-5 in front. They eased off after that and the home side scored 1-5 in the last quarter and only for Arva Goalie Richard Keith bringing off a very brave save the home side would have had another goal. Arva team and scorers – Richard Keith, Shane Finnegan, Sean Mc Manus, Patrick Murtagh, Dermot Mc Glade, Thomas Brady (0-1), Shane Finnegan, Brian Fitzpatrick, James Morris, Fergal McGlade, Conal Sheridan (1-4), Gavin Doyle (1-1), Jonathan Mc Cabe (1-1), Kevin Bouchier (0-1), Alan Barry. Subs – Shane Mc Entee, Raymond Daly, Paul Bouchier. In their next game Arva will have Shercock as visitors to Michael Cully Park on this Sunday 14th April at 2 o’clock and all support will be appreciated. St Patrick’s Arva GAA Club “Come Dine with Me” function has been rescheduled for Saturday 4th May in the Breffni Arms Hotel and Leisure Complex and the club hopes all those who were due to attend will be able to come along on the night. Anyone wishing to attend should contact any club officer. Arva Ladies GFC: Arvaladiesgfc@gmail.com Girls training will start at 11.30 sharp every Saturday. The Cavan U-21 team defeated Down on Wednesday night last 3rd April in the Semi-Final of the Ulster Championship in the Athletic Grounds, Armagh. It was obvious from early on who was going to win as Cavan had great players all over the field and none more impressive than our own Ciaran Brady playing in the left full back position. Clearly disappointed at having to leave the play through injury in the game against Monaghan Ciaran gave a stellar performance on the night. His dedication and commitment can’t be questioned and the Arva Club are very proud of his achievements to date. On tonight Wednesday 10th April Cavan will travel to Brewster Park where they will once again face Donegal in the Ulster Final – throw in is at 8.00 pm. This will be another step up in class and we urge all supporters to come along and cheer on these young players who are the future of Cavan football - 16th man. The Cavan Senior team played Roscommon in Kingspan Breffni Park on Sunday last in what was their worst display all year. It’s ironic that the two best games Cavan played in the league were against Monaghan and Meath which they won easily and these were the two that were promoted.
