SCOIL SAMTHAINN AND ECOLOGY: Scoil Samhthann is a very environmentally aware school and has already obtained two of An Taisce’s globally recognised “green flag” awards. These flags were awarded as a result of the children’s efforts to reduce the litter production and energy use in the school. This year the children are working towards reducing their water usage and becoming more aware of water conservation. The children measure their water usage daily, monitor taps for leaks, use rainwater to water plants, created a water saving motto and logo and designed water awareness posters for the school. They would like to encourage everyone to be more conscious of their water usage at home too as little changes, such as having a shorter shower, can make a huge difference. Remember that by working together we can all help the environment .
