TIDY TOWNS 2012 -2013: The annual general meeting of the Rathowen Tidy Towns group will take place in the Rathowen Community Hall on Thursday 31st January 2013 at 9pm. All are welcome. Please come along and support as we all live in this village!!!!
SYMPATHY: We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Mai Greene and her children on the death of her husband Tommy on Sunday. Tommy had suffered a long illness, but is now at peace. We pray for Tommy and for Mai and his children during this sad time.
May he rest in peace.
MEETING ON CLOSEURE OF THE GARDA STATION: Our Garda Station will be closing on the 31st January and our local Garda Damien McCormack will be transferred to Multyfarnham. The RCD will be hosting a meeting for the public and Damien will attend to inform the community of where to go for any Garda business in the future. Also on the night we hope to set up “Text Alert” in the community. This meeting is set for Thursday 7th February at 8.30pm in Rathowen Community Centre and our local Councillor Avril Whitney will also attend. The loss of the Garda Station will have huge repercussions on the village and community of Rathowen and with the large amount of robberies going on at the moment the community need to come together and look out for one another and especially our elderly in the area. Check in with them, phone them, make sure they feel safe!!!. Neighbours will have to rely on neighbours from now on!!!!
WOMEN ON A MISSION: Every Tuesday & Thursday the women of the community are on a mission to lose pounds!!! They meet up at 8pm in Streete Parish Park to use the lovely new walk way, 5 walks around is equal to 5ks. Every Sunday the women meet up to weigh in between 11.45 and 12.15. Come along and join in as we all motivate each other to lose the pounds!!!!
NEW BABY: We would like to send our congratulations to very proud parents Joe & Dervala Gilchrist on the birth of their second son Oisin a few weeks ago. Oisin also has a big brother called Cian. Welcome little Oisin!!!!
Enrolment for St.Mary’s N.S.: This year’s enrolment for children starting school in September will be held in the school on Tuesday, 5th February 2013 at 2.10pm. All parents/guardians and children who are being enrolled should attend. The meeting will take approximately 30 minutes. Enrolment forms should be filled out before the enrolment day and can be obtained either by ringing or calling into the school. Please bring the completed enrolment form with you on the day. We look forward to seeing you there.
STEPPING STONES PRE/AFTER SCHOOL: Stepping Stones parent and toddler group has started back after the Christmas break. Mums, Dads, Childminders and Guardians come along on Tuesday mornings at 10.30am till 12.30pm. Fun filled activities organised every week have a chat with fellow parents/guardians while the children play. New members welcome. Gymboree is on Tuesday 29th at 10.30am come along for some musical fun. Stepping Stones Pre-School now enrolling for September 2013. ECCE scheme (free pre school year) and CCS scheme (community childcare subvention) available. Book in today to save disappointment. Activities include sand & water play, outdoor play, play dough, arts and crafts, baking and lots more. Stepping Stones provides a bright, fun safe environment where your child is encouraged to learn at their own pace. LOTTO: The next lotto draw will be held on Monday the 4th February, the last draw held was the 21st January and the Jackpot was €8000, there was no winner of the Jackpot and the drawn winners were Marie Murphy, John Joe Duffy & Mary Kiernan. The Jackpot is now €8200 so well worth buying a ticket, tickets cost €2 a line or 3 lines for a €5 and you can get tickets in the Post Office or Connaughton’s Pub and don’t forget the local sellers.
