St. Barry’s New Year Message: St. Barry’s GAA Club are in the process of purchasing six acres of land adjacent ot the existing playing field. The club plans to develop the additional land and the clubhouse along with other community based groups to provide community amenities for the parish such as a walking track, meeting rooms, sports hall, etc., There are funds and grants available for work such as this, which we hope to avail of. When this land is developed, the club will have a second full sized playing pitch and also a training area which will free up the existing main pitch for matches only. This project will take a lot of time, effort and finance to complete but we feel it is the right thing to do, even in these difficult times. We hope that all our members and everyone in the parish will support us in this venture, in providing the very best facilities for all our young people going forward. We would like to see more people getting involved in the club and new members are always welcome. All members, new and old will be informed by text of all meetings taking place during the year and we hope to have a full and punctual turn out at all of our meetings. The club would like to thank all the people of the parish who supported us in any way in the past and we know you will continue to do so in the future. The club would also like to thank all who helped with the training of all the various teams during 2012 but expecially on Friday evenings with up to 100 children taking part and enjoying training. Its on evenings like this that make you feel proud to be a member of our club when you see the enormous effort being put in by parents and by team managers. The club would like to wish all its members, supporters and sponsors a very happy, peaceful and sporting year in 2013 and hopefully a year that brings the Club much success.
