Ardagh Toddlers: Ardagh Toddler Group would like to thank everyone who came and supported our very successful Coffee Morning & Cake Sale on Sunday last. Toddler Group continues every Tuesday morning from 10-12 in the Community Centre, all are welcome to drop in and say hello, have a hot cup of tea or coffee and let the children play!

Brownies and Guides: resume on Thursday 13th September at 6:15 and 7:40 in Ardagh Community Centre. Brownies is for girls aged between 6.5 - 11 and is a fun evening of Guides is for girls aged between 10.5 and 15, it provides the opportunity to discover new ideas, new skills, new experiences and new friendships. Community Games: Ardagh wins 2nd place in 2012 County Longford Community Games Area Participation Awards! David Hoysted, Eamon O’Kane and Leslie Finnan accepted the award on behalf of all the children in our parish last Friday evening in Ballinalee. There is no doubt that the children and parents really outdid themselves over the last year, trying so many new events and excelling in tag rugby, girls gaelic and athletics to name only afew. The great combination of new ideas and enthusiasm will help us continue this success as the new programme of events for 2013 gets started. County Longford Community Games will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 2013. A commemorative booklet will be made by the County with all areas represented. We are appealing if anyone has any group photographs that they would like to submit please contact Eamon O’Kane or Leslie Finnan ASAP.
Irish Dancing Classes: The Maureen Farrell School of Irish Dancing will resume in Ardagh Community Centre on Tuesday 18th September. Beginners welcome at 4 pm or 6.30pm Fees for the classes are €4.50 per child per lesson with a family rate of €10 for all children in the family, with further reductions for parents who pay by the month. No wigs, fake tans, or make up for dancers. Children can dance for competitions or enjoyment. Parents welcome to stay at classes if they so wish. Wedding: The marriage took place on Friday August 31 last, in St. Brigid’s Church, of Deidre Bannon Cross and Jonathan Lennon Drum Athlone. The ceremony was performed by Fr. Pat Lennon assisted by Fr. Michael McManus. Maid of Honour Siobhan Murphy, Bridesmaids Fionnuala Murray, Louise Lennon and Therese Ahern. Best Man Paul Dooley. Groomsmen Brian and James Lennon (brothers of the groom) and Michael Moriarty. The reception was held in The Shamrock Lodge Hotel Athlone. Congratulations are extended to Deirdre and Jonathan and wishing them a long and happy life together. The honeymoon is being spent in Mexico before returning to their home in Drum.
Golf: Note for your diary: Saturday 15th September, the annual St. Patrick’s GAA outing is on in Longford Gold Club. Tee times available from 11.am All golfers and aspiring golfers welcome. Refreshments and prize giving in Lyons at 9pm that night.
