SR MARTHA BOLGER: There was widespread regret here in Mohill on hearing of the death of Sr Martha sister of Mercy formerly of the Sisters of Mercy Convent Mohill who died in the Manor Nursing Home Edgeworthstown on the 8th April 2012. Remembering Sr Martha when she was here in Mohill where she was loved by the community for over forty years. She was a lady of the old school who lived her life with a simple straightforward faith and goodness. Her kitchen was her castle and we all enjoyed her delicious goodies. When she retired to Longford convent she was missed but remembered for her hospitality and good work. She never looked for the limelight for herself. But we were blessed to have known her. Her removal took place from Edgeworthstown Manor Nursing Home to Castletowngeoghegan church and was representative of all sectors of the community as was her con celebrated mass which was a celebration of Sr Marthta’s life. Our sympathies are with her community in the Sister of Mercy nephews nieces and all who mourn her at this sad time. May her eternal soul rest in peace.
LEGION OF MARY: The curio of the Leitrim Longford branch of the Legion of Mary was held here in Mohill on the 18th April 2012. It was a curio with a difference because the organising committee here in Mohill held a farewell party for our esteemed spiritual director Sr Margaret Mary convent of Mercy Longford who was returning to the Mercy Convent Athlone. Her time with us in the Legion has been an inspiration to us all. The Legion has flourished under her guidance and it was great to see so many young faces following the footsteps of the late Frank Duff and Edel Quinn and echoing their words. “I am all yours my queen,my mother and all that I have is yours. The Legion of Mary is doing great work and new members are always welcome. Mohill Legion of Mary hold their meetings every Tuesday at 7pm in the canon Donohoe Hall. New members always welcome.
