MRS KATHLEEN GALLLIGAN: There was general regret throughout the town and district with the news of the death at Newbrook Nursing home Mullingar of Mrs Kathleen Galligan late of Corstruce house Ballinagh and in recent times of Drumcondra Dublin. Kathleen (nee Sheridan) was wife of the late Peter Galligan and loving mother of Peter and was formerly of Corrickmaquirk Moyne Co Longford and was sister of the late Right Rev Monsignor John V Sheridan ,Rev Fr Farrell Sheridan CSSP and Father Pat Sheridan, Joseph Sheridan TD and Rev Sister Aquainas and is survived by her brother Tommy at Firmount. The funeral took place following concelebrated mass in St Felims Church Ballinagh to the local cemetery. May her soul rest in peace.

MR ANDREW BRENNAN: There was widespread sorrow with the news of the death at his home at Annaduff Ballyhaise of Mr Andrew (Andy) Brennan NT who for many years was principle of Lacken National School a short distance from Ballinagh. A fluent speaker of the Irish language Andy in his early years presented an in service programme for teachers in the teaching and learning of Irish. A native of Mennaghdinnagh Glenties Co Donegal Andy as he was widely known was in his youth an outstanding gaelic footballer who gave sterling service to the Donegal minor county team. He was the driving force behind the organising of Scor in couty Cavan. In addition he was an officer of Cavan County Board GAA and a member of the Ulster Council for twenty years. He is survived by his sons Eunan Kenneth Michael,Neil and Gabriel daughters Geraldine Anne Marie Tina and Noleen grandchildren and relatives to whom I extend the sympathy of our community. He was predeceased by his wife Rose. The funeral took place following con-celebrated mass to Castetara cemetery. May his soul rest in peace.
