TIDY TOWNS: As a result of the sterling work done by the Tidy Towns Committee and the very large number of volunteers during the build-up to this year’s Tidy Towns Competition, Castlepollard garnered an additional three points over last years total, increasing from 253 points to 256 points. The extra points were awarded in the categories for The Built Environment (2 points) and Tidiness (1 point).

BOWLS CLUB AGM: Castlepollard Bowls club held their AGM recently and the officers elected for the coming year are as follows - Chairperson; P.J. Brophy, Vice-Chairperson; John Dermody, Secretary; Mary Nea, Assistant Secretary; Mary Smyth, Treasurer; Benny Rooney, Assistant Treasurer; John Kennedy. The Westmeath Bowls League commenced on Sunday, October 2nd. The best of luck to all the team members. Bowls sessions take place every Monday and Wednesday evening between 8.00pm and 10.00pm in the Parish Community Centre, Church Street, Castlepollard. New members are always welcome, so why not come along and bring a friend?
